Sometimes I think how close the Buffyverse was to becoming a MCU-style extended universe and it just blows my mind.

The Faith the Vampire Slayer spinoff that was scrapped so Eliza Dushku could do Tru Calling. The Spike movie that James Marsters allegedly turned down because he thought he was getting too old for the role. ‘Ripper’ - a series about Giles that Antony Stewart Head was completely on board with - failed due to a combination of scheduling conflicts and a dispute over who owned the rights to the character. ‘Slayer school’ never got past the drawing board, but it was a serious discussion between some of the writers. There was even an unaired pilot for Buffy the animated series!

Some of these ideas sound really cool, some less so, but I guess we’ll never know now.
