An Open Letter to my 2016 Self: Here's how you've been

The year 2016 was not a good year for the world and humanity. But here's how you've been this year dear self- you've survived and that's a thing. You've been battling with yourself and your own decisions and choices in life yet, you survived. Though you have had a lot of broken friendships this year, you learned that for every loss there comes spaces for new ones and without bittersweet partings, life wouldn't be complete. The weekend invites for parties or trip to somewhere have now become invites for their weddings, baby showers or birthday of their first child and that's okay, because again, you survived. Remember how you kept on coming back to what had been breaking you? How you cried and tried so hard to compehend on why things aren't coming the way you want them to be or in a manner it should have been? But look at you, you survived. Perhaps you still sigh at every struggling day of your seemingly fucked up life and continuously being unwanted or misunderstood by the people around you or the people you love but then again, you survived. Remember how you wished to have your own little clothing shop online years back? While it is so overwhelming now with its existence, you know too well there's a whole lot effort needed to really get there and that's okay, because you survived the initial steps.. The Universe just know how to joke on you sometimes- you met someone who let's you know that life and love is more than just an acceptance. Acceptance that you are like this and like that but merely teaching you not only what's good about you, but also what's bad about you and makes you realize that you are beautiful with the right amount of both. That loving is not just about making your partner accept you for who you are but merely having the courage to say NO to you just because. Being able to make you understand well why it is a no. You know that you are not perfect and that you are still in the process, it is hard but that's okay, cause then again, you survived. Dear Old and New self. You know too well you've been through a crazy ride this year but you still manage to open your eyes even if it hurts on each waking day of the past 365 and 1/4 days. Let me thank you for hanging in there. For you have been a survivor in this cruel but beautiful life. Thank you for listening to others a little extra this year. Though you know you still need to go through a lot more, you are here today writing these things.. Please, please always remain the right blend of love and hate towards this practically inconsistent, unpredictable place we are in. Always love yourself a little more but not forgetting to love others as much. 2017 is gonna be your year like no other. Claim it. Own it. Live with it.
