i don't even do anything else with my life besides listening to music by this point I think
I made a playlist of my favourite music from last year* driven by some strange forces because I thought I could be more concise than the spotify-generated top 100 tracks. Foolish, foolish me.
So, this one’s only 5,5 hours long and has 72 tracks on it. (I tried to do it max. 2 tracks per artist but I made exceptions for Drab Majesty and Cold Cave, because I can, and also because those two bands were the most relevant to me this year). I wanted to do it in some kind of order but it ended up being a mess so if you want to listen to it hit that shuffle button
*I mean what I listened to, not 2017 releases, although I’d say most of it is rather new stuff

2017 (we made it)

ANYWAYS. this playlist is, in it’s essence, a collection of songs that came out this year that i happened to like. i started this project for fun sometime in may-june (i don’t remember the exact date) because a lot of bands i like were putting out songs and, despite the fact that i don’t see myself as especially sentimental, i wanted to make something to kind of ??? honor the musicians that have gotten me through my teenage years in the best way i know how
needless to say, this got way more personal than i’d originally intended. 2017 has been a really goddamn shitty year, and at this point i think we all know better than to pretend like 2018 will definitely be better, but i wanted to take some time to realize that we’re still here. the world didn’t end in 2017 (although, i don’t know about y’all, but it certainly felt like it did a couple times). we still laugh at dumb jokes. people still make music. even if it doesn’t seem like it, people are still kind to each other.
due to the nature of trying to make a playlist to capture a whole year, this playlist isn’t about just one thing, and it’s filtered pretty heavily through my own experiences this year, so this isn’t something i expect to resonate with a lot of people. but since it was emotionally cathartic to make and this was kind of the year i realized that i am a sentimental piece of garbage, i felt like i had to post it

My 2017 playlist
This year was fucking hard, as hard emotionally as 2016 I think. Not to sound overdramatic but a big part of me died in July with Chester B. and I’m still kinda floating with what’s left of me after that and don’t know what to do or to listen to feel better. Bring me The Horizon - Doomed (live @ the Royal Albert Hall) this song is my number one this year. This live version a fuckin masterpiece, as well as the whole Royal Albert Hall gig. I lost count of how many times I watched it. Bring Me The Horizon - Drown (live acoustic from Maida Vale) This live simply dragged me out of hell and continues doing it. Falling asleep to it is heaven.
