Band of the Week
Band of the Week (BOTW) is a small series I wanted to start to highlight some of the lesser-known bands in the goth scene. I'm hoping to shed some light on modern post-punk and gothic rock bands, since the experimental sounds created 40 years ago have far from died out today. In order for the subculture to survive, we must prop up its natural evolution.
And so I bring to you...
SPIEGELGEIST:
I actually found this band one day by scrolling through my Tumblr dash. Their name translates to "Mirror Ghost" in English.
Right now, they have 2 singles and 1, 147 monthly listeners. They've only started releasing songs since 2025, but both tracks have a classic gothic rock feel. Electrifying synthbeats elevate the timeless sound and piercing vocals.
SPIEGELGHEIST is based in Berlin, Germany, where they tend to be the most popular. There are a lot of great goth bands from Germany, and SPIEGELGHEIST is one of them.

Try as I might, I couldn't find any other pertinent information on them.
Though there is a large and omnipresent goth scene online, local clubs/venues/bands build community for many of us. I'm happy that SPIELGELGHEIST is a part of this legacy.
During my search, I uncovered a small writing blog titled "Projeckt Icarus." Prose is written in both English and French under the pen name Spiegelgheist. There is no actual evidence connecting this author to the band.
