i’m not gonna write full reviews this year, but here’s my top 10 kpop song list. even though im not doing full writeups like i did in 2020 and 2021, this is still like Official for me or whatever haha. i’ll still consider this My List
This is a list I’ve made for myself but I won’t make it private in case anybody wants to check it out. Of course, this list is made of shows I love for different reasons but they have in common a great cast, excellent performances and very good writing, so I recommend all of them.
I’ve made a TOP 20 in order of preference and they’re also included with all the other shows I’ve enjoyed which I’ve organized by nationality but they don’t follow any order. I don't really rank my top songs of 2022 (50 songs are hard to rank), but I will say my top 5 songs of the year are pretty easy to pick.

Although those are my top 5, all of these songs became an earworm at some point in 2022, and I would encourage anyone to give this playlist a listen. 51 songs, clocking in at a little over 3 hours, it gives a pretty good overview of the year in music for me.

you know.... neither Fearless nor Antifragile hit as hard as i would want them to.
the choreo, music videos, and stages add a lot of oomph that i dont think is really there in the songs. theyre both cool songs, vibe songs, theyre not really like all-encompassing overwhelming songs that hit like a truck lol. which is fine, though i definitely prefer hardhitting and fast songs to slow and cool songs. Le Sserafim are my favorite group right now by far, it’s not even close, because of how I love all the members with all my heart and i think they’re some of the best performers as well as being the funniest idols out there right now. but after listening to Fearless and Antifragile back to back a bunch just now in order to figure out which of the two i liked more, i kinda just came away from it feeling like actually neither one of them are my Song Of The Year lol. i think theyre probably both in my top 5, or at least one is, but i think comparing the two songs just now moved them from both having the potential to be number 1, down to possibly like 4th or 5th in my top 10 list haha. listening to just the audio, and really focusing on it, with no visual element, really drove home that i think the songs are good but not great.
i think Love Dive is still my favorite lol. i dont think it’s a 10/10 song, in fact i think Eleven is better in pretty much every way... but Eleven came out last year, technically haha. right at the very end. i like IVE a lot and theyre certainly a group i’ve gotten to know a decent amount this year, with Rei being one of my ults at this point, but i mean, idk, im not as interested in them overall as i am in Le Sserafim. so that makes me kinda conflicted lol like... is Love Dive my song of the year even though Le Sserafim absolutely defined this year for me in every way? am i gonna give Love Dive my SOTY award and put it up on the Mt Rushmore with Dreamcatcher Scream and Everglow First... even though i like Eleven more than it?
idk, but tbh, i kinda dont care. it is what it is, lol. i think it’s been a shitty year, especially personally. probably the worst year of my life so far. so whatever... it happens haha. we’ll see.
last year i did a tentative top 10 at the end of the first quarter of the year (so, the end of march), and then one halfway through the year (end of june), and one at the end of the year (end of december obviously. that was my big official finalized top 10 list haha), but i didnt do one after the third quarter (end of september). i think by that point, it would have just been too close to both my halfway list and my eventually final list, there’s not really any point doing that lol, unless i treat it as a “halfway through the second half of the year” list and only include songs from the second half? shrug. idk. the thing about that is like... well it’s the same reason im not gonna do a “first quarter top 10″ list right now this year. it just wouldnt have enough songs lol.
so in lieu of that, i’ll just say that my favorite songs of the year so far are Stayc - Run2U, Kep1er - Wa Da Da, Billlie - Gingamingayo, and i suppose NMIXX - Tank. in that order, or at least something similar to that order. i guess? any other picks that i could pick in order to flesh out a top 10 list would just be kinda arbitrary on my part, i think. i like a bunch of others, but i dont have a lot that i think is gonna go all the way and end up on my list in december (if i even make one this year... lmao).
im not sure if it’s that this year just hasnt been hitting me with a lot of stuff that i love, or if it’s that i’m starting to be less interested in kpop..... i really dont know. i have a lot of high hopes for the second quarter though, even just april alone will have some stuff im really looking forward to. the ive comeback, the dreamcatcher comeback, and the lesserafim debut in may in particular. i guess i’ll just have to wait and see haha
