Little Big Steps | J.T&Ella
With that message, Ella swiftly left the very empty and dead quiet girl's locker room, swinging her blue duffel bag over her shoulder. Her blonde and pink locks were damp of towel-drying and her black football cleats hung by her other shoulder. She smiled at the thought of J.T. She was quite upset before as he had left Degrassi for a 'break' but now since he was back, she was going to enjoy her time with him. J.T was like the twin brother she never had. They both liked sports, and food. She was always competing against him and having playful fist fights, which she won constantly (as J.T claimed, 'he went easy on her' but Ella knows he's just lying). She walked out of Degrassi, sending a quick text message to Dylan telling him that she won't be home soon, so he could heat up the mac and cheese in the fridge. She gave Rory and a few of the football team members who accepted her a quick wave goodbye as they called before she hopped on her bicycle and rode on towards the park.
She arrived in a matter of minutes, parking her bicycle by a tree before landing on a bench nearby, opening her duffel bag to spill the content of snacks that she had brought: chips, chocolate and sweets; Ella was confident there was enough for the both of them.
One Step Closer || Niq
Julian hadn't been expecting anything on his regular, lonesome Wednesday night. A few assignments were calling his name and even though he still had a lot on his shoulders, he had been managing. He went through the days ignoring problems at hand, avoiding conversations that needed to be had, dodging duties that needed to be done. And he was, on the surface, content. If he spent time thinking of every issue in his life and all the tasks he wasn't confronting, then of course, things got harder. But as of late, he had just been pushing the thoughts away. He occupied himself with useless conversations, petty actions. Nothing in his life really mattered anymore; he was just doing things to get by. Four months and he was gone. That's the only thing that kept him going.
So it came as a shock when the blonde girl who had been avoiding him in the hallways and had seemed somewhat distant in brief conversations actually texted him. It was nearing midnight and his phone buzzed against his desk. She was still somewhat frigid. The tone in her words, the words she chose told Julian that she was trying to further herself away from him. And for whatever reason, he didn't take it so harshly. As a matter of fact, he'd been expecting this. Niq, he knew, was nothing short of a riddle and this was a part of her. The pushing away was a part of her. But he'd pull through. He liked her company enough to fight against it. It wasn't until she completely blew on him that he realized maybe she was closer to the edge than he thought.
Midnight on a school night but his mind was racing. This was a feeling he hadn't had in a while. But he didn't question his actions. Once he knew her location, he sighed and pocketed his phone, grabbing his keys and a jacket and moving out of his room, down the stairs and out the door. He'd have hell to pay when he got back. His mother's worried tone was the last thing on his mind, though. He'd deal with it when he got back though. For now, he just wanted to be sure that Niq was something close to alright.
The cemetery wasn't far. As a matter of fact, Julian knew this cemetery a little too well. Julia's plot was here and from time to time, the Goldsworthy's still visited her grave. Eli's visits were more frequent, but Julian occasionally did escape to this place. It was silly, but he felt some odd tie to her. Not just through his name, but the way his father spoke of her, like she was still a part of him, therefore still a part of his life, it all just held significance. But now he was venturing to the familiar gates of the dark, cold cemetery for someone else. He didn't know a thing. He didn't know if Niq had just been roaming or if this was a piece of her. But something told him the latter was most likely a connection to her borderline meltdown. Whatever he was going to tonight was going to be an answer, either way. And was he ready for an answer? Maybe that was a selfish question. But he couldn't help but wonder, was he ready to hear Niq's riddle panned out?
Didn't matter. He pulled into the parking lot before his mind could make a decision and once he killed the engine and got out of Augustus, he was looking around in every direction for the familiar wild locks of blonde hair. It wasn't a very big cemetery and as Julian's high tops stepped on the gravel as he walked through and scanned over the clean cut grass on either sides of him, he couldn't help but wish it had been anything else. Not the loss of someone, not anything so dark and hard. Just something simple. He wished whatever Niq's secret was, would have lead him somewhere than this fucking cemetery at midnight. Selfish, selfish, selfish thoughts plagued him as he continued to search.
And then his eye caught it. The messy blonde hair. She wasn't in one of her big, animal-patterned coats like she usually was, wasn't wearing anything out of the ordinary like she usually did. As a matter of fact, her white skin was the next thing to verify to the boy that yes, that was who he was looking for. And immediately, without much conscious thought, his feet began guiding him towards her. He was careful not to make too much noise, but by the time he was two plots away, he knew she had heard him. Her body stiffened, but he ignored it. He just looked beyond her, at the name on the grave marker.
Noah.
Julian sat down beside her, bringing his knees up to his chest, and wrapping his arms loosely around them. He wasn't really sure what to say. He didn't even know if Niq wanted him them or wanted him to speak either. Maybe he was intruding on some moment. But why would she have taken the time to text him here if she hadn't been at least thinking of him briefly? He didn't know. He didn't know the answers to a lot of things as of late. So he kept quiet and continued to stare at two syllable name on the grave marker. He hadn't known a Noah. But sitting on his plot gave this eerie feeling to Julian that somehow, this stranger he'd never meet and him were linked in some way.
He patiently waited for Niq to interrupt the wind's loud whistling and break the silence.

Charlotte and Brady ; that evil worm.
Charlotte sleepily rolled over in the bed, brushing against a warm body and thinking nothing of it. Years spent sharing a bed, meant she was no stranger to spooning or cuddling. She didn’t even register or contemplate opening her eyes. Her brain wasn’t quite caught up to her body yet. There was a dull thud in her head, and she knew the second she did, she would have a hangover. Sleep was definitely the better option.
Nate’s party had been interesting, to say the least. Teenagers and drinking nearly always led to trouble – but somehow Charlotte had found herself spending most of her time, with Brady. The two of them had bonded over the lack of fun they were having and managed to make some of their own. She’d coached him on the joys of grade 9 girls – and even saved him at one point by pretending to be interested. Then there was his little crush on Aubrey, which Charlotte found adorable. She’d even convinced him to try out for the play. He’d been someone to talk to about Julian, and Rory... and the mess she’d made of their friendship. Towards the end, it had gotten rather messy – but that’s what she should have expected after making him eat the god awful worm in the tequila bottle. She vaguely recalled half carrying the soccer player out to the safe ride car and assuring him that she wouldn’t drop him at his house. Her parents were in New York still visiting Mason and the new baby, so it was safer to go to hers. There would be no lectures. Just a safe place to crash.
Brady Ashoona was definitely entertaining when he was wasted. He’d kept her in stitches, doing impersonations and what not, and rambling drunkenly of everything and anything. He’d passed out in her bed, and she’d been unable to move him; so instead she’d simply taken off his shoes, and tucked him in. Her own alcohol had kicked in by this point, and she passed out beside him, watching old reruns of The Big Bang Theory.
Brady. Her eyes flickered painfully open, and she realized who in fact she was spooning. Gently she tried to move her arm out from underneath him. Too late, he was waking up. Charlotte made a face, and decided to avoid the awkward, closing her eyes and pretending to be asleep again, against his shoulder. Oops.
Nobody said it was Easy. | Brandon&Ella
Twenty minutes. Ella quickly dropped her phone besides her, causing it to bounce on her bed. Thinking it over, she never really thought the text or the reason she wanted to see Brandon through. He just popped into her mind and the next thing she knew, she was sending a text to him to meet her at the Dot in twenty minutes. She couldn't just ask him to not be at the the Dot. The text had already been delivered and he would've read it already. And so, with slight hesitation, she stood up from her pale blue bed and patted her sleeping shorts before looking at her orange pet guinea pig, running around on her bed. She couldn't help but chuckle a little before lifting him up and gently nuzzling him by the back of his ear. She placed him in his cage, petting him slightly. "See you later, Cream" she said, before he went on to his food to eat. Sighing a little, Ella made her way to her closet, picking out her black pullover sweater and her dark jeans. She quickly laced up her black Converse and slipped her wallet and purse in her jeans pocket. She grabbed her glasses at the last second, her vision blurry after hours on her laptop.
Quickly whizzing out of the apartment, Ella hop-ed on her bike and quickly paddled, reaching the Dot in less than five. And so, she walked inside, crossing her arms as she waited in line.
Charlotte & Leo - Ice Cream Adventures
To say Charlotte was in a good mood would be an understatement. Not even thoughts of her algebra exam in the morning were enough to keep her cooped up in the house. Her mother kept sending her pictures of her brand new nephew. Every 20 minutes or so, her phone would beep; and Charlotte would check her phone, her face automatically lighting up. He was perfection. After everything Maggie Haig had been through with her miscarriage earlier that year – seeing the pictures of her cuddling her grandson, it suddenly seemed that she was finally at peace with everything. There was a light in her mother’s eyes she’d missed desperately. If Charlotte couldn’t be in New York with her family, she was at least going to celebrate in Toronto.
Naturally the first person she’d wanted to call was Julian. But something told her that even news of Nicholas’s safe arrival wouldn’t thaw the ice between them. She was dead to her best friend. Not that she blamed him. She still couldn’t forgive herself for leaving Julian in the hallway the way she had. She could rationalise it all she wanted but the bottom line was – to everyone else, she’d chosen Rory. It was unforgivable in her best friend’s eyes. He would never understand. Her mood called for happiness, and maybe that was why, she’d texted Leo.
Leo McBride was something else. He really was. It was hard to believe that they hadn’t really hung out before this semester. Charlotte could thank assigned seating in algebra for that one. He was funny, and a total dork. When she was around Leo, she felt different. It was almost like she could relax. There was no pressure to be a certain way or to act a certain way. They simply had fun together. He made her laugh and she couldn’t help but smile around him. The more Charlotte hung around with him, the more she wanted to hang around with him.
She knew it shouldn’t matter what she wore. She and Leo were just friends after all. But still, she took her time getting ready; choosing her black skinny jeans, a green tank top and her cropped leather jacket. She added a touch of gloss to her lips, and straightened her dark hair. There was nothing wrong with looking good right? Even for ice cream? It was natural chic. She definitely didn’t want to look like she’d gone to any effort. Hearing the honk of a horn, she skipped out the front door and down to the awaiting jeep, her bag slung over her shoulder. “Leo Distraction!” she declared a grin on her face as she crawled in the passenger side. “Oh my god, you have to see these pictures” she said flipping her phone out and wasting no time showing off her precious nephew. “Isn’t he the cutest?” she asked, her cheeks flushed with excitement and the night air.
