One-handed prospect posts 20-rep bench press at NFL Combine
[ad_1] INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — There’s always energy in the bench press room at the NFL scouting combine when players grip the crossbar and begin pumping the 225 pounds of free weights. But never like this. Even Shaquem Griffin, the one-handed do-it-all defender from Central Florida and a late invitee to the combine, didn’t expect to do what he did Saturday with his prosthetic left hand . His…

20-Rep Squats, Day 6
Late night in the garage. Warmed up with the now-standard rope skipping and then 3x: 10 squats, 10 divebomber push-ups, 10 KB Romanian deadlifts. Followed by hip openers.
Squats:
135lb x 5
185lb x 5
235lb x 4
270lb x 3
300lb x 2
320lb x 1
270lb x 20
Felt like a monster throughout the warm-ups and knew this was gonna be cake. It felt much easier than the last session and I plowed through the first 10 reps pretty quickly. Took a walk in the park for a cool down.
Though it’s not logged on TWBS, I’ve successfully lifted this weight, 275, and 280 for 20 reps last year. I also hit 285 for 19 reps, which was the most heartbreaking set of my life. Gonna keep on the linear progression until I fail and see where I land.
20-rep Squats, Day 5
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Stuck to the template during my mid-day session in the garage. I wore a t-shirt and shorts. In December. Anyway, warmed up with some rope skipping and then 3x: 10 squats, 10 divebomber push-ups, 10 KB Romanian deadlifts. Followed by some serious hip openers.
Squats:
135lb x 5
185lb x 5
225lb x 4
265lb x 3
295lb x 2
315lb x 1
265lb x 20
I didn’t have the same invincible feeling through my warm-up sets today, but I stuck with it. Played Monster, which is becoming my defacto power song and had to work to keep my head in the game. Finished with a primal roar and then some light rope skipping before taking a short bike ride. Cooked.
20-Rep Squats, Day 4
Basically followed the template from the last session since it worked so well. Warmed it up with some rope skipping and then 3x: 10 squats, 10 divebomber push-ups, 10 KB Romanian deadlifts. Followed by some serious hip openers.
Squats:
135lb x 5
185lb x 5
225lb x 4
265lb x 3
285lb x 2
305lb x 1
255lb x 20
Felt like a fucking champion again. Nice and steady throughout, never got too hard. Good warm-up + inspirational music + the right t-shirt = can’t lose. Cooled down with some more rope skipping and a nice walk around the park.
20-Rep Squats, Day 3
Warmed it up with some rope skipping and then 3x: 10 squats, 10 divebomber push-ups, 10 KB Romanian deadlifts. Then the good old hip openers.
Squats:
135lb x 5
185lb x 5
225lb x 4
255lb x 3
275lb x 2
295lb x 1
245lb x 20
Damn this felt good today. I was mentally dialed in like I haven’t been for my previous attempts this cycle. Every rep felt smooth and easy and I never had to take more than a couple of breaths even on the backend. I’m gonna stick with this kind of warm-up. Did 3 x 15 kneeling wheel roll-outs afterwards.
