A Journey Towards The Perfect Mug of Hot Choco
I’ve been watching a bunch of youtube videos on making hot chocolate and with a cabinet full of powder, and also no will power to leave the house, I’ve decided to begin a (see title).
Malteser Cocoa Powder:
4 heaped teaspoons of powder
2 little spoons? Of sugar
hot water until over half the mug of choosing? Idk I’m not really scientific about this. Stir
milk or cream (this case cream) until colour lightens - usually pour for a good 3 seconds. 3 seconds of milk. Not to the brim of the cup. Leave some space. Stir.
fill rest of mug with hot water again. Stir.
You can definitely smell the malt. You can definitely taste it too, with the chocolate. In fact, I think you can taste the malt more than the chocolate, but that’s fine. The sugar makes it slightly sweeter but overall malt choco means it’s not *that* sweet, which is nice. Perhaps I might’ve added more sugar than is necessary. I’m used to adding lots of sugar in my tea and forget the inherent sweetness in chocolate powders. Sweetness might be good in a milkshake, but just an underlay of it is just right for hot chocolates.
Taste: Could be more chocolatey, but understood this is malt. I think I made it too sweet actually 2/5
Texture: milky and creamy! 4/5
Smell: a comforting aroma, standard hot cocoa smell, what you’d get out of a small white foam cup when you’re freezing outside sitting next to the campfire. A small hint of much needed warmth, kind of aroma. 3/5
Appearance: I mean, I didn’t dress it up or anything. Appearance-wise I guess it doesn’t look that rich. But it’s what you’d expect out of any hot chocolates? 3/5?
Mug choice: A Little Prince mug. one of my favourite stories, on a mug. 5/5.
Much can be perfected. Maybe next malteser round I’ll try without sugar. I wonder if putting sugar after water affects the flavour in any way?
Mother’s review
1: not hot enough (me: you used up all the hot water and then spent 15 minutes on the phone! mom: you asked for my opinion)
2: a lot of milk. Very rich. But too sweet
Taste: 4/5
Texture: it’s weird but I don’t know why so 2/5
Smell: 3/5
Appearance: 4/5 it would look great with cream (me: we don’t have cream)
I nearly forgot to upload my favorite SWtOR oc! D: Asa, you may be a scheming bastard, but you’re Theron’s scheming bastard.
L’amore.
