A wip I started a while ago of my paladin and my friend's druid from the D&D campaign that's currently on hiatus. If I can ever find my tablet pen, I'll hopefully finish this properly lol
Three guesses what the Rogue Trader said next
Do you have any Exodus comic recommendations?
Hello! Yes, though I will preface by saying I have not read much of the newer stuff. I stopped keeping up with the comics around the Sins of Sinister run (mostly due to chronic fatigue and classes picking back up).
As far as I know, there isn't an Exodus-exclusive run yet, but I am more than happy to be corrected on that if I somehow missed it.
My first recommendation is Black Knight: Exodus (December 1996). It goes into Exodus' origins and his ties to Apocalypse, as well as tying him to the Black Knight (namely Eobar Garrington and Dane Whitman) and the Eternals (through Sersi). It's easily my favorite, just because we kind of get to see what Exodus was like before he became what he is, plus I just love how beautiful the art in those old comics is.
Going off of Black Knight: Exodus, I would also suggest the Bloodties run of The Uncanny X-Men. It hints at what gets explicitly said in Black Knight: Exodus, plus we get to see just how powerful Exodus can be, as well as seeing just how he views Magneto and his relationship to Magneto. He really does see himself as Magneto's successor, at least for a little while.
I do also like the start of Fall of X 017 simply because of the interaction Exodus has with Apocalypse. I've been a fan of stories that dig into a character's emotional connections or state, and there is a section at the beginning that does with him.
Immortal X-Men 2, 5, and 6 have some of my favorite Exodus moments. 2 focuses on Hope, but we get to see him backing her up. 6 focuses on Sebastian Shaw, but we do get to see Exodus dealing with the memory of Garrington. 5 is exclusively focused on Exodus and his musings about being metaphorically lost in the desert and how he perceives his relationship to Apocalypse.
The Age of Apocalypse is pretty extensive, but he is all over it given his own ties to both Apocalypse and Magneto.
He also appears in X-Force: Fatal Attractions, which I would recommend for the art alone. He gets almost a full-page spread devoted to him, and nearly every panel with him in it past that point is just...it's so beautiful. They really do that terrible man justice.
Given this is an art blog, I would be remiss if I didn't showcase some of my favorite official art of him:
Other fans might be able to point you to more recent stuff, and this is by no means an exhaustive list of what I do have.
1 grump to go, thank you
hey great-grandma or great-great-grandma, whichever one of you wrote this down, sorry in advance if I fuck up the simplest recipe ever
Cream cheese kolachy, for the curious:
Cream together:
1 large package of cream cheese (I'm using an 8 oz pack)
1/2 lb butter
Add:
2 cups flour
2 tablespoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
mix well
Roll out thin and cut with a small size glass.
Make impression in center of each circle with finger.
Fill center with any SOLO fillings. (Jams and jellies will burn and run out).
Bake in hot oven 400° until light brown. About 15 minutes.
Cool - sprinkle with powdered sugar.
