Being a bartender, it often times resulted in stories and situations that were truly memorable for the young girl. Some were beyond ridiculous and resulted in good stories to share with others but there were also times in which she witnessed sad moments. People choosing to drown their sorrows in glasses and forget about the world for a while.
It was hard to know what kind of a night each night would be and Jiae focused on her work, knowing there wasn’t much she could do and if she was honest, it was best to stay out of any sort of situation unless she needed to step in.
She had picked up her medication from the pharmacy and decided to get some street food on her way home, not being able to pass up the opportunity to do so when she bumped into someone, her mind distracted on food and missing the person who was in front of her.
“Oh, I’m so sorry, I was just--” she apologized quickly before she recognized the person in front of her.
It wasn’t someone that she had actually ever spoken to but his face was one that he had seen around. She wasn’t the type to be star struck, or so she claimed but she stopped speaking when she recalled a few nights ago when a drunk boy was sharing his life story with her, telling her about his boyfriend while he had his arm draped around another.
Naturally, Jiae had asked if this was the boyfriend he was referring to, thinking how cute it was but the boy had shaken his head, giggling before leaning closer as though he was telling her a secret.
“No, no. This is someone else. He doesn’t know about him, it’s a secret. My boyfriend is Chae Daejung.”
And so here she was now, standing in front of the boy who had been cheated on and she couldn’t help but wonder if he knew. “You’re Chae Daejung,” she said, wanting to confirm that it was him. “Listen...sorry again about bumping into you. Are...you okay?”
