24 Things of Advent Day 3

Reshare the Latest Thing You Posted

The latest fic I posted was a Dante-inflected take on Noin and Zechs’ transit to Mars, which I’d been inspired to write after reading a fantastic fic on the same event! Since then, via recommendation and just following comment threads, I found two other 6x9 transit fics!! So today, in addition to posting my own variant on this, I’ll post links to these other wonderful works that predated mine, in ascending order of publication on ao3! (See tags on ao3 for specific content details, but overall, these are all tagged for F/M, Zechs/Noin; Update: since posting, I've incorporated more 6x9 transit fic recommendations to the list! they're on different platforms from ao3, and one requires an account to access!)

I'm going to share 4 lines of 4 things because.

One: As the Rain Comes

“Piers.”  “I’m here,” he says immediately. He stumbles over fragments of a chair and the torn-up edge of a carpet, turning in place. “Talk to me, Lee, where are you?” 

Two: the body and the mind

Nothing comes between him and that fall—a few stories, though the flights of stairs had blurred into one, into a singular chase on burning legs. He felt small in the window, and smaller still in the blast that shook the building. A man, just a small and broken piece in the big, torn street.

Three: take heart (where would I be)

"Are you sitting down?" Only wonderful or terrible things can follow a phrase like that. She glances at her daughters once, gesturing to the stove, and moves into the living room. She doesn't know if she can take one more terrible thing.

Four: It Had to Be You

He'd whisk him out of that picture, out of the autumn tree riverside and the pattern of brickwork under his feet, taking him and his ironed suit and polished shoes away from the buildings and the noise into the open, blue sky.

I passed the 100 fics written benchmark this year, and I thought it might be time for a retrospective - and then this lovely event popped up!

Day 11: A Thing Outside Your Comfort Zone

This one was my first omegaverse fic! I ended up tackling it through the lens of what was a more "normal"/accepted/talked about relationship in omegaverse (that is, alpha/omega, beta/beta) versus the never really mentioned, under-the-radar relationships (in this case, alpha/beta). Definitely an interesting fic to write, and who knows, I might even try it again one day! You can find the fic here

I had the pleasure of beta reading A Potter's Field by @sercezgazety — still one of my absolute favorite The Owl House fics — and like many other readers, I was invested in her OC Jody Scab.

While I'm still not done with it, I started writing a fanfic of her fanfic:

24 things of advent, day 4: four Lines/excerpts/detail shots of an old thing

a missing scene from the punk hazard arc! that particular saga has been my favorite so far and i was soooo excited to see law & smoker interacting, i had to write a bit about them

full fic: perfectly capable

“Relax,” Law said, his tone much calmer than Smoker’s as he started to unsheathe his sword. “I just want to check the inside. It’ll be quick and painless.”

“Absolutely not,” Smoker replied, his eyes darting past Law to the crowd of marines up ahead. Apparently, they were too busy celebrating to notice a pirate pulling a sword on their leader. “I’m no doctor, but I’m pretty sure most of them get by just fine without vivisecting their patients. This is all you need to see.”

“Suit yourself,” Law said with a shrug before he slid his sword back into its sheath. “As far as I can tell, you’re fine. If you’re experiencing any chest pain, it’s probably psychosomatic.” He paused to look Smoker in the eye. “Psychological. Stress-induced.”

“I know what it means,” Smoker grumbled as he looked down at the heart in his hand. He didn’t see enough vital organs on a regular basis to know what looked healthy, but he also didn’t fully trust Law’s judgement. Stress-induced chest pain? That didn’t sound like him.

24 Things of Advent Day 2: A Thing You Made For/With A Friend -- Construed liberally here as something I sketched that was inspired by beautiful Wufei/Sally Po fanfiction, written and posted to ao3 by lbro009 (read the fic, "Stay", here!! So beautiful!). Running so late for posting on time that i forgot to add many table legs, so here’s an improbable floating table for you XD.

24 Things of Advent Day 8: A Thing You're Currently Still Making

This fic is still very much in progress, but it was inspired by the image of Zechs sitting on sunlit wooden floorboards with a shot of Wild Turkey in hand and the bottle on the floor next to him. I had no idea where he was meant to be, I thought the room looked like a yoga studio, but @bryony-rebb suggested this was a still from the year he was presumed dead, and THEN she said she'd love a fic of this, and THEN neither my sleeping nor my waking brain could let either of those thoughts go. So now I have a new wip and others are taking a back seat for the foreseeable future XD !!

The following excerpt is from So Many Shards, a fic I submitted for wingtober2025's prompt "Mask", and it turns out to be 4 ao3 lines on my phone screen (though only 2 on the laptop, and 3 on here):

“Hilde!” beamed Quatre as she unlatched the door, nearly drowning out Trowa’s laconic, “Hmm, are we in trouble?” as he caught sight of the cleaver dangling from her crossed arms.
