The Beatles performing at the fourth Mersey Beat Showcase at the Fairfield Hall ballroom in Croydon. Originally singer, John Leyton had been billed as the top act, but on the day he was ill, leaving the Beatles the headline. Some of these fab photos were taken by Andy Wright who was a 15 year old schoolboy at the time and was lucky enough to get backstage access through his father who was a steward at Fairfield Halls. Notice Ringo playing the Dakota’s drum kit too at this concert.
