So for practice I redrew the first page of the most infamous chapter in Mobius: 25 Years Later, but of course with some tweaks!

I redesigned Abby to look more like a Mobian. Goodbye photo-realistic koala maid. I also made her pose a bit more sassy because she deserves it.

Got rid of the weird apron and put Julie-Su in her regular clothes. I don't think she was ever actually shown cooking in the chapter so there's no point to her wearing that weirdly sexy apron... I also made her ponytail a bit smaller so she wouldn't block half the page with it.

Instead of the weird TV screen they use for video calls, I gave Julie-Su a more futuristic device that can show a hologram of the other line. It also gives a reason for why she's holding a tablet in the original, because I also don't think that was ever explained either.

I rewrote some of the dialogue to sort of get to the point? In the sense of the fact they're having an actual conversation instead of droning on and on about the same subject the whole time (In the next page I'd imagine Julie-Su gets to the actual reason of why she called Sally so the story can move beyond their dinner plans). Also, in the original, Sally states "we have a problem" but then she never actually specifies what her issue is. Lastly, I changed the mention of Lara-Su's supposed diet since it never comes up anywhere else in the story.

I tried coloring the page, but it look a bit weird, so I left it black-and-white. However I did color-code the speech bubbles to add some flair and ease for the reader to know who's talking.

I did end up tracing the background of the original though. I'm not exactly up to par with my BG work yet. Forgive me, background critics.

This is where Another Kind of Mind: A Fresh Look at The Beatles, a new Beatles podcast, steps in. Fronted by a group of passionate young women (somewhere around the Gen-X/Millennial age boundary) AKOM enters the ring determined to wade through the bullshit of Beatles discourse to try to get to the heart of some of the issues surrounding the fandom.

its not that he WANTS to abandon sonic in this time of need, of course not. but at this point in the prologue, tails is around 28 years old - sonic is almost 40. now that robotnik is expected to live the rest of his life in prison, the whole hero stuff just isnt really a thing anymore. tails has to consider what he ought to do instead, and this teaching position feels like tremendous honor and maybe even a dream job of his, one hed put on the backburner while running with the heros of mobius

sonic on the other hand still has some maturing to do...and tails cant be the one to fix that yknow. hes gotta do that work himself.

the whole point of this being a sonic forces au specifically is to adequately address what the game's plot tried and failed to really get across...i.e. the theme of war and its consequences. the biggest problem i have with the game is that its tone is so confused...it has really interesting implications of a dark undertone but never really gets to explore it beyond "its a war the end". its utter nonsense tbh. eggman gets to basically take over the majority of the planet in an all out W A R ... involving CIVILIANS becoming combatants ... and when he loses its just like. fine. let him go, whatever. LIKE... infinites implied death doesnt absolve eggman of anything hes the mf who gave infinite the phantom ruby in the first place IT MAKES NO SENSEEEE !!!!!!!!!! why does no one CARE what was the POINT

in this AU the war is taken as seriously as it should have been taken in the game, and explores what its done to the world in the aftermath. as such, things like tails' blind faith in sonic is something that will be put to the test, as sonic is set up to be one of the only people who seemingly STILL wants to give eggman another chance at freedom (and pays a steep price for his blunders)

sonic is no perfect hero nor a perfect brother, and tails has to reckon with that one way or another
