What is Benedict’s life right now
I mean...
He has just announced that he will finally do his dream project, the Patrick Melrose novels by Edward St Aubyn, the one he first talked about back in 2012/2013, and he will co-produce it through his own company with his best friend. Bonus: He will reunite with David Nicholls, the writer of Starter for 10 (which tells me the Melrose series will be perfectly hilarious in the exact way that Benedict does best). Announcement here.
He is part of the MCU, which means he is financially secure no matter what else happens and he can take care of his family.
Speaking of his wonderful family, he just celebrated his 2nd anniversary to his lovely wife, Sophie, and their second child is due soon. His first born son will be 2 in a few months and looks a lot like his daddy, with his mother’s eyes (well, the one good photo I’ve seen).
He is close to wrapping up The Current War and will then step back into the Cloak of Stephen Strange to shoot Avengers: Infinity War around the UK. Thor:Ragnorak will be out later this year.
He will produce and star in The Child in Time as a joint production for the BBC and PBS, to air in 2018.
The Jungle Book is in post production and will be released in 2018; How the Grinch Stole Christmas and Rogue Male and maybe even Magik are all projects coming up, somewhere, on his calendar. And that’s just the stuff we know about.
The BAFTA TV awards will be announced in a few weeks, and he might very well get nominated for Sherlock, or The Hollow Crown. (Ugh, he better not cancel himself out since it’s the same category). Emmy nominations are announced in June, and I’m pretty sure he’ll be nominated for Sherlock.
Wow, 40 is a great year for him! Honestly, I’m just thrilled and excited for him. He deserves all of this, he’s worked so hard, he’s so decent, he loves his work so much and it shows.
