“Dear, Maddie, hope you’re still getting these. California is amazing. I think you’d like it here. It’s a hard place to feel sad. Maybe it’s all the sunshine. Today is my first day as a probationary firefighter. That’s right. I made it through. Wish me luck. P.S. There were three other Evans in my class, so everyone calls me Buck now. I kinda like it.”
Racewashing is ALWAYS racist. It is racist because it suggests there was something wrong with the character's original race. It is definitely racist when you racewash Asian characters. This is a HUGE problem in anime/K-drama/J-drama fandoms. It is disgusting to watch people blackwash ethnically Asian characters and say they "fixed" them or "made PoC rep". There was nothing wrong with the original and Asian people are people of color in the first place! And no, light-skinned Asian people aren't "basically white".
