A 2doc fluff fic no one asked for but was written for my self indulgence entirely. :)
The cold breeze was flowing in through the open window. The curtains swaying side to side as the air entered the room, brushing onto the bassists face rudely awakening him. He slowly sat up, gazing at the open window, grunting to himself as he lay back down, not bothered to get up and close it. He was put out of his gruff mood by being faced with the one thing that could always make him feel at peace. He brushed a couple of bangs off of 2D’s face, staring at his sleeping face trying to figure out what he was dreaming about. Murdoc knew he really didn’t deserve the singer, being 12 years his senior and being anything but nice to him for years. Yet, 2D stayed. Murdoc never understood that. A small part of him wanted 2D to hurt him, leave him, destroy a part of him like he did to him all those years ago. He wouldn’t even be angry if he did, he knew he deserved it. But, throughout the years of recovery from addiction and childhood trauma, he was doing better. He had 2D to thank for most of that. Always knowing exactly what to say, always touching him when he needed contact. He somehow always knew. Even those nights when the satanist would wake up, covered in sweat and running to the toilet to puke up past memories that will continue to haunt him forever. 2D was always there to pick up the pieces, rub his back, hold him tight. Made him feel loved like he never had been before, which is almost true.
“Hey Muds... d’you have to keep staring at me while I sleep?” 2D quietly whispered, all in good measure.
“Sorry babe. The breeze woke me up and I just saw that you looked so peaceful, couldn’t help myself.” 2D smiled at him, holding him tighter.
“What’re you thinking about so deeply?” He asked as he planted a kiss onto his cheek.
“Not much really just... how lucky I am to be here with you, y’know? Never thought I’d live to see this age if I’m being totally honest. Never thought I’d feel this happy, either.” 2D knew Murdoc was complimenting, but there was a sadness in his voice he knew he’d learned after years of his childhood being put down by his father and brother constantly thinking he wasn’t good enough.
“But you are this happy Muds, and you deserve to be. And as long as I’m around I’m gonna do everythin’ I can to make you stay happy.” Murdoc pressed a kiss onto 2D’s forehead softly, before continuing by placing thousands of kisses all over his face, barely avoiding his lips. 2D knew the game he was playing, but kept giggling anyway.
“Come on Muds, don’t make me beg for it.” Before 2D could even be ashamed for asking something like that, Murdoc was already pressing a soft kiss onto his lips. The sheer gentleness of his touch was always rare coming from Murdoc especially, but 2D loved all the odd surprises Murdoc would always give him. 2D wove his hands into Murdoc’s scalp, intertwined their legs into knots, never to be untied. Murdoc pulled away, using all the force he could not to just attack the singers mouth.
“Mate, you didn’t get much sleep last night, you should go back to sleep.” 2D smiled but shook his head to Murdoc’s comment.
“Muds, this is one of my favourite times to be awake. The worlds just waking up, it’s freezing outside but we keep each other perfectly warm, and I’m just so close to you and I don’t want to move ever.”
“You’re rambling again, babe. Getting very philosophical.” Murdoc laughed a little at 2D’s description of the early morning.
“Sorry, can’t help it sometimes. Just get caught up in the moment.” 2D looked away, slightly embarrassed, but Murdoc brought his hand around to his chin and turned him back to face him.
“Didn’t day I don’t love your ramblings, I could listen to you all day. Sometimes you even make sense.” 2D sighed and smiled at the comment. Murdoc quickly turned away though.
“What’s wrong?” 2D panicked, worrying if he’d done something to upset the bassist.
“Nah, it’s nothing. It’s just your morning breath stinks mate.” 2D could tell Murdoc was trying not to laugh, he huffed and pulled him back down into a spooning position, Murdoc being the little spoon.
“Hmph, could at least let me be the big spoon.”
“I topped last night, you have no place being the big spoon.”
“Oh shut up, cunt.” Murdoc scoffed and 2D laughed and nuzzled his face into the back of Murdoc’s greasy locks, which he had become accustomed to.
Things were quiet for a couple of minutes, before 2D groaned out a, “You really should shut the window, though.”
“Oh you do it yourself if it bothers you that much, tosser.”
After about 20 seconds, Murdoc stood up grumbling to himself and shut the window and climbed back into bed. Murdoc thought to himself about 2D’s earlier comment, and he agreed. He did love these mornings they had together the most. No hustle of the band and everyone having to be organised and the stress of it all. Just them, together. Which was pretty rare for them now.
(Legit wrote this in a half asleep half awake state so there’s bound to be mistakes but please ignore them, I also apologise to anyone who reads all of this.)
