it's nice that everyone can collectively agree that episode 12 of 2gether was just not it. it was disappointing and out of place when it comes to the rest of the story. so friends, now that i got my thoughts organized, be prepared for this whole essay coming your way.

i don’t know how they completely butchered sarawat's character that much. they turned him into my biggest fear: novel sarawat. they turned him into trash that disregards tine's feelings.

now, i'm not going to act like sarawat was completely terrible. he saw that tine wasn't feeling well, and he was there for him. he showed concern for him and worried for him. even though he is very busy because of his band, he was ready to throw his schedule away just to be with tine. even his time with pam, his high school best friend. he was hesitant to help her at the end of the episode because he promised his time to tine, and only chose to after tine’s approval. again, i’m going to reiterate, pam is his high school best friend. if she wants help, he sure as fuck will help her because that’s what friends do. we saw how great sarawat’s friendship is with his group during the soccer match a few episodes back. even though he could potentially mess up his relationship with tine by breaking a promise or get hurt, he was ready to risk it for them after seeing them get hurt. if pam is apart of that group of friends, he shouldn’t have to set boundaries with her, especially since he didn’t seem to have any reason to believe that pam liked him until she actually told him. sarawat definitely couldn’t have predicted that she likes him, let alone loves him. 

however, although sarawat did do many things good this episode that he can't be blamed for, he did not do enough.

sarawat is a closed-off person, but when it comes to tine, he's very expressive. we saw his journey with loving tine and how he was always true to his feelings. he always spoke to man and boss about them, and even proudly told basically his whole university. he literally has an instagram account dedicated to tine, one that he almost named lovetine with no shame. yet, he didn't tell pam? if pam is his best friend, such an important part of his life like man and boss, why didn't he let her know about how he is happily in a relationship? i understand it can be difficult to come out, especially to your former crush, but he basically told the whole world. he even cursed out a stranger at the time, type, for not knowing that he is tine’s boyfriend.

that’s not what gets me mad the most. that’s not where his character got fucked up because from what we saw in pam’s text to him, they apparently haven’t spoken in a while. people make mistakes, and if his is forgetting to tell someone about his relationship, it’s fine. at the end of the day (even though it doesn’t connect to what he has done previously), he shouldn’t be obligated to tell someone about his relationship just because they are his friend.

what gets me mad the most is his disregard for tine’s emotions. ya’ll are telling me the guy who would bother a bunch of seniors to make tine happy even though it can embarrass him, the guy who touches tine softly and showers him with love, the guy who would throw everything away at the sight of tine in the slightest bit of pain, the guy who respects tine’s feelings over his own, is the same guy who was fully aware of tine’s insecurities but does close to nothing about it?

he knew that tine was up all night, crying while listening to scrubb songs, and he did fucking nothing??? this isn't the sarawat i have seen for the past 11 episodes and grew to love. the one who went out of his way literally last episode to help tine feel secure in their relationship and reaffirm his love. and after hearing tine finally open up to him and admit that he was so scared he cried (after so much thinking and fear of talking about his feelings), he makes a sex joke? i'm sorry, what???

god, talking about this switch in sarawat is getting me so disappointed, so let's talk about something else that disappointed me: how they villainized pam.

in the novel, pam was a very likable character. she knew about tine and sarawat's relationship and was insanely supportive of it, even cheering and squealing when sarawat told tine he loved him. so why was she made into an obstacle in the show?

there is a pattern of female mistreatment in this show. a female is introduced solely to have some negative impact of tine and sarawat's relationship, only to completely disappear when the issue is fixed. you can't even hate any of them because it's not their fault. she saw that she had a chance for her feelings to be reciprocated, and took it. just like how sarawat didn't know pam's feelings, pam didn't know sarawat's.

it's unfortunate that they added unnecessary drama to this beautiful story to make it follow the pattern of a typical bl drama (love, jealousy or some other external factor, break up, emotional confession, back together). i understand drama and angst, but to make it happen at the second to last episode and to drag into the last, just for a heartfelt confession to be more impactful is infuriating. they're introducing a brand new plot with rebranded characters in the last episodes. at this point, i'm just curious to see how it will get resolved.

i'm usually very emotionally connected to this show, but i couldn't even cry this episode. i just felt stressed the whole time. kudos to the amazing acting, but sorry to this random plot change that i can't help but dislike.

for some optimism, i am going to try and be hopeful that things will be okay again next episode, without disregarding this new plot or taking away from the original ~vibes~.

I think what's so pathetic and sad about episode 12 is that it could have been so reaffirming for Tine to hear from someone that is like him, or someone that he clearly seems to think is better than he could be, that he's good enough.

Pam and him talking could have been the climax and Tine's catharsis for the episode, I honestly don't feel confident we're gonna get that except for that one photo where they're both sitting down, but if it's just that as much as I will love Pam reassuring him, I don't like the idea that is just gonna be a throwaway scene for what is just gonna be yet another throwaway character, and it's just pathetic, it just is, Pam could have been there with both Sarawat and Tine from the beginning of the episode caring for them and if they wanted the cheap drama of her being in love she could have still had that but realizing is better to move on and cheer Tine on.

And maybe they could have both talked about their insecurities and worked through them and bonded because of their similarities, they could have bonded over Wat's silliness or his friends, they could have bonded over Scrubb and about fashion since both of them seem taken out of a catalogue.

But instead we got this, cheap drama and a woman that just exists to further the males' plot and me being bitter at what could have been and probably still will be but rushed and amounting to almost nothing considering what the show has needed most is for Tine to grow away from his personal demons.

Because even if they didn't intend to make Tine's insecurities such a repetitive plot device, they did, and now that it's a trait it's just demanding for it to be addressed by the plot. And the writers are fools for ignoring it the entire season.

I'm glad Pam did the right thing in the end by giving the Tine the flash drive. It's ironic that she was the one to caused the drama and also the one to end it. After listening to the recording, in which Sarawat said he couldn't write a love story for Pam, Sarawat only wants to write a song only if it's for Tine 😃.
