Last night was the first meeting of the year, and I have to say it was a good one! The goal of the month was awareness and introducing 2nd Thursday to artist who have never been. Last night we were able to meet six new artist, and learn a little bit about them and their artwork. Check out the highlights
Elizabeth Garcia is a graphic designer who creates all of her digital artwork from found artwork and the use of a low resolution app on her phone. Find her stuff on local radio networks featuring art!
Ink on paper illustration by: Jon Martin
Here is Jon Martin showing us what he can do with a Walmart bought pad for illustration and a Faber-Castell pen. Drawing for the nerd generation, capturing viewers of all types!
Although Elizabeth works in the medical field, she is not necessary drawing what she knows, she’s inspired by small organisms and illustrates micro textures on vellum.
Martin Campos asked the question, should he continue doing art or not? We said yes! Creating a beautiful rendering using typography, illustration, and technical skills, he is able to capture an image which answers the question of “what it means to be human?”
We also were able to meet two other people, Leeza Gee and Kayla Rich. Leeza is an actress who likes to create visual artwork, and Kayla is a teacher! We enjoyed meeting all of you and hope that you enjoyed yourself. Remember that next month, we will be meeting on the 2nd Thursday of the month, which will be February 12th, 2016. We gather at 7:30 pm, with the critique starting promptly at 8:00pm. The current meeting space is located in “The Cedars” at 1805 Clarence Street, Dallas Texas 75215. We encourage members and attendees to bring any current artwork which the artist would like input on. Since this is an artists’ studio space, refreshments are BYODrink or snacks. If you have any questions, please contact us at [email protected] or through our Facebook page(https://m.facebook.com/2NDThurs/)
