30 DAYS TO YURI!!! ON ICE SECOND ANNIVERSARY
In 30 days Yuri On Ice will be 2 years old. On October 6 of 2016 we were introduced to an animation that made history and stole our hearts. Yuri On Ice was a phenomenon and it’s the third best selling anime that was released from 2000 to the present time, broke Tumblr several times when it was airing, was always trending on Twitter, got the attention of real figure skaters and had many more achievements.
Time has passed and we are still crazy about Yuri On Ice. There’s fan arts everywhere, we still buy merch, we still talk about it on social media... And fans from the United State will even have a marathon on theatres next month! Our love for Yuri On Ice is far from dead so I was thinking we could pay a little tribute by promoting a special hashtag for the anniversary, what you guys think? Here’s my suggestion:
On October 6 let’s flood Twitter and Tumblr with our love for the series. Let’s show our merch collections, fan arts or messages of support and appreciation. Tag your posts with #2YearsOfYOI and let’s celebrate.
Considerations:
Don’t post NSFW, pictures of bootleg products or stollen content.
I will reblog your posts in a dedicated blog, I’ll share the url once this idea gets attention. Please follow YOI Anniversary for future updates! Thank you.
If it flops it never existed.
Feel free to suggest anything and spread the word!
Happy 2 year anniversary, Yuri!!! On ICE! | 6/10/18
Thank you for all you’ve given us!
YOI 30 Day Challenge: Day 7
7. Most underrated scene
Yuuri’s Rostelecom Cup FS. I don’t see it discussed anywhere near as often as the episode 7 and 12 frees, but it’s such an important turning point in the way Yuuri thinks about himself as a competitor and his relationship with Coach Victor.
Although there is a continuous thread of wistfulness running through the course of the show from episode 4 onward, it’s amplified here up until the end of episode 12, starting with Yuuri’s worries here. I think oftentimes the emotional impact of this scene is buried underneath both the ep 7 and 12 frees and the airport scene a few minutes later.
My favorite line of the monologue is above, but here are some of my other favorites:
- “How did he know how I felt? Until Victor came into my life, I could never openly say that I’d win gold, but I never skated thinking it was inevitable that I’d lose.”
- “I was able to come this far because Victor believed in me.”
- “Yurio looked like he’d kicked the bucket on his last three-jump combo. Idiot! I have more stamina than him.”
- “I’m the one who loves this program Victor and I made the most in the whole world!” (Although I do love the dub’s “Victor and I created this program together and I love it so much it hurts,” but apparently we don’t like the dub round these parts).
Yep, folks, this is all said within the span of two minutes at the Rostelecom Cup! Super duper underrated.
