i’m playing through 3.8 rn and i find it interesting how when they do that charmony bird flashback, the name used for robin is the same (“guileless girl”) but the name used for sunday is changed.

in the original penacony quest, they use the name “trustful boy” for sunday, but in the 3.8 quest they changed it to “gloomy boy”

3.8 had a lot of fun lore reveals, and I love how gay Dahlia and Black Swan are, but also I'm genuinely not sure if I like HSR after this. like, you can't just go back and decide that your story was completely different after the fact. especially a whole version later. we were done with Penacony's story, and then hoyo just said "nope. actually it ended completely differently. if you liked the story's ending, fuck you. it didn't happen" like, everything up to the Sunday fight is ok (though some of it could have just been included the first time around), but the Farewell Penacony section has just been completely torn to shreds. And again, it's been AN ENTIRE VERSION since Penacony. we've had the wardance and all of Amphoreus for Penacony's ending to settle in. but then they decide to take you back to Penacony's story, further removed from the emotional context it originally had, and tear up its ending. and like, if they're willing to completely undo entire sections of the story, how can we trust any other part of the story. this sets a precedent. any part of HSR's story can be undone if Hoyo decides it doesn't like it anymore.

The montage of the siblings with their loved ones ending with Kelvin going back to kiss Keefe is just such a great moment.

The sweetness of the forehead press. The way Kelvin stops himself and the determination he walks back with. Like, he has clearly been wanting to do this for a while, and putting it off and fighting with himself, and even after the kidnapping put things in perspective he had maybe been fussing over the right moment or building the nerve and then -

That was the moment!

The most important thing is Stelle is SMILING, Dan Heng is exasperated again, lol, and the trio is together!!

And I've finished Amphoreus main story just in time! Going back to do the side quests now
