#300 things

Do people still read the fic 300 Things/recommend it to ppl or did it fade into obscurity once it was taken off Ao3?

I found a shirt I made. Idk how old this is. maybe 10 years old. It's got some of my favorite Destiel fanfic titles at the time on it. Some of them are gone from the internet. Some of them have gone on to be published (I think), and all were amazing. Sigh. The good old days.

Coming up to two years ago, I was scrolling Pinterest and came across a very sfw post about Wolfstar and was just like 💡'OF COURSE THEY WERE IN LOVE!'. No shade to Remadora stans, you can ship who you like, but even as a teenager reading the books as they came out, I just didn't get them together? It felt so ... Forced and awkward. Wolfstar made sense.

So then I spent about 6 months finding what I could on them, discovered AO3, gorged myself on fanfic, and tried to navigate Tumblr but my old ass couldn't do it 🤣

I can't remember exactly whose fic inspired me to try again on here, and I have a really complicated relationship with social media, but I'm really glad I did. I've met some people I would consider some of my best friends through it.

My favourite bit about fandom? I think it's seeing the diversity of people's creations and skills, and some of you have it all!

My favourite bit about fanfiction specifically though, is being able to read about your favourite characters a million times. I was always that kid who felt like they'd lost a friend when they finished a book, so this is ideal for me!

With so much of his life devoted to his family, Dean has little time in his schedule for class and no time for social interaction. Then, while getting his classes together for the fall, he finds himself in a do-or-die situation: He must take his last literature class now, his spring already filled with those left for his major…except that none of the English classes will fit his schedule.

This is (in my opinion) the best student/teacher college destiel AU there is. Dean and Castiel come from different backgrounds and lives, different struggles and problems, but they work together and find both themselves and each other. This fic is beyond words amazing. Though Dean is the main character and POV, Castiel and Sam are characterised beautifully. Yeah, it’s a student/teacher college AU, but it’s so much more.

Sadly, you have to work for this amazing fic, as it is no longer up on AO3 or anywhere else really. But there is an ebook version out there (that’s how I read it), so...

I highly suggest reading this to basically anyone who likes college AUs and fantastic character development.  Get ready for an overall engaging story with a great brother relationship, angst, laughs, fluff, and some well-rounded domesticity

I like AU or canon-divergence, fluff mixed with a bit of angst, a good bit of smut but not so much where that’s all it is, top!Cas is great too

Comments: 10/10 this doesn’t really need a rec, it’s the most famous destiel fic ever, right up with Twist and Shout, which I did not have the courage to read past the first chapter. This fic is actually deleted, but my link works because the wayback machine is a godsend. I just really really love this fic, and I love how their relationship builds up, and how Dean comes to trust Castiel, it’s the slowest build ever, but it’s worth the wait.

Does anyone know why 300 Things by cautionzombies has been taken down on Ao3? It was my favourite Destiel fic and I always came back to it but this time round it's no where to be found :( I'm acc quite bummed over this :(
