Sorry I didn't post yesterday. I decided to take the day off from oboe and relax. So today I worked on cleaning parts of Silvestrini 5 before I up the tempo more and I read through the Mozart Oboe Concerto. I'm happy to say that my fingers, tongue, and mind remember a lot of the Mozart :) Also, Mako is doing so much better. Sneezing has dropped a lot. Today, I played through all the melodic minors with arpeggios. I also play the solo from the second movement of Rimsky-Korsakov's Scheherazade for @joeywenda 's virtual masterclass. It was great being connected to so many musicians! And lastly, I worked on reeds and listened in on @katherineneedlemanoboist 's virtual recital. What an awesome solo oboe recital. I will definitely be ordering Alyssa Morris' Collision Etudes!! Mako update: he is doing better. 7th of April, day something of isolation. Today, I was supposed to play some chamber music. Did not do that. Instead, I did something my students have been asking me for since last week. I started a music theory course to help them understand music better. I do have some sad news. My cat, Mako, appears to be sick. A lot of sneezing today. Could be allergies, could be a cold. We got him the earliest appointment available, which is tomorrow afternoon. This means I will miss out on playing for one virtual masterclass, but, given the circumstances, I need to take my cat to the vet.
