Steam had taken over the train at Southall, but the journey from there was dogged by problems, meaning that the train was around 50 minutes late by Tonbridge, including being delayed by a swan on the line near there. The rake of 12 mk1 coaches complemented the loco well. 8K video frame.

On The Charge por Andrew Por Flickr: After a rather sedate pass at Bunbury en route to Chester 34046 Braunton put on a much better display of steam and power as it passed Dale's Bridge foot crossing heading back to Crewe. After yesterday's lucky sighting of the loco with a dead camera I made sure the battery was fully charged for today. Pretty awful weather all day and the tea shops aren't open yet but a chance to see steam power after three months was not to be missed.

Mr OVS Bulleid was the Chief Mechanical Engineer to the Southern Railway in the 1930s and he was answering a call for a new, modern, powerful steam locomotive to help replace the ageing locomotive fleet at that time.
