has it been talked about how eggs got his nickname? how did he get eggsy from far or unwin? is there a canon reason or do you have a specific headcanon as to why?
I think there’s a canon reason for it in the comics , but I legit forgot what it was , so I had my own headcanon for it .
Gary was a weird baby , basically . he'd cry a lot , and find little solace in traditional calming methods . Lee and Michelle exhausted themselves looking for ways to soothe their child , until one day , Lee found it in the form of MTV -------------- stick the music channel on and , mesmerised by the melody and colours , Gary would calm the heck down and eventually fall asleep .
Lee often had fun resting Gary on his stomach , stickin' on MTV , and chilling with a good book . but Gary's nickname came to be after a particularly amusing incident , in which Gary waved his hands , wriggled , gurgled and made loud noises --- presumably in delight --- at a performance by Goldie Lookin' Chain , a comedy hip hop group . every single time . one band member elicited Gary's animated response each time he made the camera shot , due to his outlandish fashion choices and exaggerated dance moves . that band member's nickname ? Eggsy .
Lee found it hilarious that Gary enjoyed this strange band's chav culture and mocking raps , and jokingly referred to his son as " Eggsy's Biggest Fan " . soon enough , that nickname shortened to Eggies ( Lee vc : that's what the fans call 'emselves ) and after similarities in the rapper and baby Gary's nature were jokingly compared , Lee started calling Gary , Eggsy . and the nickname stuck .
