Hey there. Im asking about fairies taking on human form, human vessel or bodies, human lives. Not using glamour magic to look human. The fae Incarnating on this 3d plane as human. Is that possible?
Not really no. Depending on where you look, Fae were considered spirits, deified ancestors, the ghosts of the dead, another race of beings separate from humans, nature personified, or some kind of demon. In most versions of the Folk, they are completely unable to die. Immortal even if they wish to cease existing. In the few versions I have heard of the Folk that can die, it usually involves them being incredibly long lived and being destroyed through their own hubris.
In no account involving the Folk have I ever come across any mention that they become human for any reason. Except for several modern fantasy novels.
Now theoretically they could strip themselves of magic and memory, steal a human body, make one, or put on a permanent disguise, and insert themselves into the human world. But not only would that eventually fall apart as they still wouldn’t really be human, but that’s not really what you’re asking.
In the end, its really a question of whether one being can become a completely different one. Reincarnation necessitates that the being is both able to die and possesses some kind of spirit or soul that can pass on after the death of a physical body. Another possibility is the use of an Avatar. A being, usually a deity, who is more than human can place a small part of themselves into a human body and parade around as human for a normal lifespan before the vessel dies and the part returns to the greater whole (See Jesus, Vishnu, Ganesha, Shiva, Buddha, Mohammed, etc etc. Many figures in many religions are viewed as Avatars. Though this is a rather extreme perversion of the original concept.). However in this case, despite having a human body, the being is still technically more than human and can’t be counted as a human. It is also highly questionable as to whether the Faerie Folk are even capable of such a feat.
