3 Day Novel Contest
Was typing right up to 11:59, but I completed this year!
Okay, I only got a 20,000 word novella, but last year I petered out at 6,000 words, so yeah, I’m calling this a win.

Working on capturing Alan Turing's voice
Enigmatic Patterns will be a first person comic, with a running narrative of Alan Turing's thoughts. I'm practicing my voice by writing a novella attempting to capture Alan's unique voice. He was a prolific writer of papers and letters, and I've read quite a few, but that doesn't make it easier. I find it makes it harder. His voice is out there already, and I'm chasing it down. I've successfully completed the 3-Day Novel Contest before, and found it a thrilling experiment in immersive writing, so I'm attempting it again this year. I'm sure parts will end up in the final script, but I'm almost more interested in the parts that won't. The details and characterizations and verbal tones that emerge from this exercise but will be mine alone. I'll be posting snippets, I'm sure, but for the most part, this is an experiment for myself as I attempt to channel Alan Turing's humor, curiosity, rationality, and wry detachment.
3 Day Novel...
Live twittering my lack of progress at kyleen66.
Please feel free to share my agony as I destroy the lives of fictional characters.
Apparently itunes thinks that rap music is appropriate fuel for novel writing set in a medieval fantasy world. The juxtaposition is oddly calming.
5000 words into my 3 day novel. Time for a lunch break!
Registration for the 3-Day Novel Contest Is Open
Hide your kids, hide your wife! Registration for the 3-Day Novel Contest is now open. What's the 3-Day Novel Contest? Only the most exhilarating, ass-kicking, phantasmagoric literary experience on the planet. I've participated every year since 2007, and I have to say, I greatly prefer it over NaNoWriMo. NaNo just gets to be a drag (for me) after a while. The 3DNC is over before that can happen. 3DNC is like a torrid love affair, while NaNo is like all the worst parts of marriage.
I've just started working on the outline for my 3-day novel. It's shaping up to be a political-rural-creature-horror thing. Fun stuff.
So what are you waiting for? Head on over there and register.
This Book is My Bitch.
Doing really well on my novel. I have to finish it in three days; we started last night at midnight, going strong, just hit 10,000.
What's really great is that I'm just having a ball doing this; I'm enjoying myself and I'm not going to let anything stand in my way ;) Even if I don't win, I'll have a completed novel that I can edit, send in, and possibly get published. Woooo~
Alright, back to the grind! Wish us luck :D
