hey look what i managed to find

still just as dead as it was last time i saw it but surprisingly still outwardly intact

part of me kinda wants to see if i could repair it. probably no recovering the save data (those SD cards are LONG gone) but i bet if i had the parts i could get it running all factory-reset-like.

pros and cons of smilebasic for the 3DS allowing users to share programs they made via trading a lil alphanumeric code that allows others to download directly from smilebasic's official servers:

much faster than the predecessor (petit computer) making users share via qr codes containing the entire file inside :)

if your wifi or the official servers wind up going down, and if you don't have a homebrewed console, you're fucked if you want to download someone's program. you're just fucked. and we are now multiple years past the 3DS server shutdown.

cons and pros of petit computer allowing users to share programs they made via qr codes:

oh gah fuck my spine hurts from hunching as i try to hold my DS steady so it reads these qr codes. some of the bigger ones have a total qr code count in the 30s.

teehee if i don't wanna download the program to my DS right now, i can save the qr code's png for later and then download the program to my DS in the middle of the woods :) or i can even download until the end of time :)

maybe someday there will be a way to have more than 1k badges on your ds at a time. multiple albums, like scrapbooks we can switch from?

so for purely hypothetical reasons

if someone was assembling the turtle movies- all of them- into something that modded 3DSes can play, like those downloadable trailers/music videos/etc, and they were having trouble locating one of the movies shown in theaters in 3D, what would be preferable?

a fan-made 3D conversion of the 2D movie (with watermarks)

the 3D conversion but with the watermarked bits chopped out and credits missing

the 2D version of the movie in full

for the purposes of this Completely Hypothetical Scenario™, imagine that the Actual Official 3D Version Of The Movie was only ever released in theaters, which means that there are no 3D versions for retail sale, which means that if the official 3D version is ever going to be let loose on the internet, it would have to be the doing of somebody who worked at one of the theaters that showed the 3D version of the movie…and that would not have happened yet in this Completely Hypothetical Scenario™.

trying to put together a thing that'll have both versions of the turtles forever movie in it so it only takes up one spot on a 3ds home menu, but have just learned that i may not be able to give it a custom home menu jingle. i cri.

anyway this would have been it. it matches the other two i snipped from the movie for individual home menu tiles :)
