On September 19, 2001, Cal Ripken Jr. took himself out of the game right before playing the Yankees at Camden Yard. By doing so, he ended his record setting streak of playing 2,632 consecutive games in a row. He beat out Lou Gehrig, who had previously held the record with 2,130 consecutive games in a row. Lou Gehrig's record stood for 56 years and was thought to be unbeatable. And it was until Cal Ripken Jr. came along. They both earned the title of Ironman!! Today, September 19, 2025, the Orioles are once again playing the Yankees so I thought it was only proper to post this today and pay tribute to a baseball legend who I have admired since I was a kid. Cal played the game that I love so much for 21 years, and no one has ever been more dedicated to that game!! He is an inspiration to me still. Thank you, Cal, for making the game better and giving everything you had to the game of baseball ⚾️👏🏽🧡🧡😍🤗 on a personal note, in my humble opinion, Cal has the most beautiful blue eyes to have ever graced a baseball diamond!!! 💙💙
Ironically, the statue of the Ironman is made of bronze!!😁🤣😍
Cal was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2007!!! ⚾️💙💙
Cal Ripken Jr. was the best number 8 in baseball!! At least, I think so!! 🧡🧡 and I always will!! ❤️
