You know when you’re so caught up with the web of lies that you have woven that you forget what the truth even was in the first place?

This... may or may not have happened recently when I hid in an apple orchard. My mother caught me flirting with the moon and asked me what was going on, what I was doing. I lied so fluidly that I even believed myself for a time.

The truth, hidden behind a masked smile, haunted me. I tossed and turned all night. The lies that ensnared me became spiderwebs, entangling me in the dream. The spider, scrambling to turn me into a meal, whispered soothing words to try to get me to quit squirming.

But when I woke with a shriek, it was clear my mind was not soothed.

It was restless. It was fearful. It was haunted. It was... it was broken, just like me. But I still continued to whisper sweet nothings to the moon until the day it disappeared.

And then I was alone. Just me, myself and my haunted dreams.
