Problematic because: "Treats everyone like shit based on their appearances (hates "ugly people" and worships "beautiful people", aka celebrities), stalks and harasses a woman because she's "beautiful", disrespects her constantly by trying to make her do things she doesn't want to, and calls her by a name she doesn't go by anymore" Propaganda: "He's a horrible person but that's what's interesting about him, trying to understand why he became like this and has such extreme beliefs (the series isn't finished yet) that hurts everyone around him and himself. He's a plastic surgeon and thinks beauty is an inherent trait that only celebrities possess, which makes them superior, and thinks that his duty as an inferior being and as a surgeon is to serve them and make them even more beautiful. He wishes he could have their luxuriois life and uses his obsession with them as a coping mechanism so that he won't have to think about his past and trauma (this is why he stalks that woman, who's the daughter of a celebrity. The characters are in a killing game so by obsessing over her he can escape from that reality. Also, in his mind he is helping her and has good intentions when trying to "make her more beautiful", even if he ends up disrespecting her since she doesn't want him to do any of that). To me it's sad how disconnected from reality and brainwashed he is, and even if he's horrible, I do think he's capable of good and of maybe realizing the faults in his mindset and finally facing his trauma. Also his design is cute"

vs. Nate (The Walking Dead: 400 Days)

Problematic because: "he’s cruising around in the apocalypse picking up a teenage hitchhiker with the most rancid “cool older guy” energy imaginable. he jokes around, offers russell a ride, saves him a couple of times, hits on him, and then immediately keeps testing how much awful behaviour russell will tolerate, like opening the car window and letting a walker attack russell until russell agrees to play along with rating the hotness of the zombies and only saving him once he rates her out of 10. the big moment is at gil’s pitstop with walt and jean, an elderly couple trying to survive. walt shoots at nate and russell because he thinks they’re connected to an earlier attack, and once they get the upper hand, nate pushes the idea of killing them and taking their supplies. no matter what russell does, nate kills them anyway, even with the older couple apologising and begging to be spared. he can shoot walt, shoots jean in the neck, and leaves with or without russell." Propaganda: 1. "he is such a good little freak because he’s not even pretending to be some deep survival philosopher. he’s just like “hey kid, want a ride?” and then five minutes later you’re in a diner shootout and he’s asking if you want to murder old people for their stuff. he’s awful, but he’s memorable because he’s weirdly fun until he’s suddenly extremely not fun. russell is a teenager walking alone in the apocalypse, and nate rolls up with this joking shitty mentor energy that could almost be comforting if literally everything about him didn’t scream “do not get in this man’s truck.” also, to be fair, the old guy did call russell a racist slur. maybe nate was right" 2. "He’s very effective DLC dirtbag material. He leaves behind exactly the kind of “oh god, people like this are everywhere now” feeling The Walking Dead is good at."
