Just need to say thank you to Mumbo for convincing Ren and Skizz to 'speed run' with him. I'm having a great time just in general with it. But this exchange in particular:
Ren: I've been using hypotenuse and Pythagoras y=mc^2 for this
Mumbo: It's e=mc^2 but that is fine. We can- we can-
Skizz: *laughter* Don't you know that Newton referred to it as yenergy not energy. Yenergy
Mumbo: It was Einstein but also fine
Skizz: What did I say?
Mumbo: Newton
Skizz: I said Newton. I did say Newton. Oh my god we're wrong on so many levels
...
Ren: I'm cooki- I think I'm cooked
I was in tears. I think I watched that bit back like 6 times. Also their laughter was just getting more and more delirious as they went on. Like they were fully loosing it.
And Xisuma in the chat after they all three blew up to a bed was a hilarious addition. I love the hermitcraft chat.
And just all their vague 'understanding' of speed running things. And Skizz got to surprise more people with his enderman knowledge!
Just wanted to collect this Skizz moment from Xisuma's recent episode and xB's perfect response to it.
How is he like this.
The whole episode was a fun one though. I don't normally keep up with Xisuma but the title promised a lot of hermit interactions and it did not disappoint.
And then there was this whole exchange a little earlier.
Xisuma: I have a questions that's gonna make me dumb but I don't care
Xisuma: Is diamond a metal?
Joe: No, it's carbon based.
...
Skizz: What about this guy? The handle itself. Whatsup!!!
Joe: That's wooden.
I loved Joe's deadpan corrections. And then of course Xisuma immediately jokes about diamond weapons to get through metal detectors to the two Americans who are then just worrying about getting put on a list or giving people ideas... If we don't laugh we cry
Also Skizz laughed so hard when he guessed a New York mayor to that Saturday Night Live guy. To be fair to him I didn't know who that was either. But I love that you could hear Skizz lean back away from the mic. I love when these guys just hang out together and have a good time.
Anyways, none of this is in order I just liked the video and wanted to have a ramble.
Decided I want to gather all the 'best' guess the build builds, and by best I obviously mean funniest by my own judgement. So I'm gonna do that. It'll probably be mostly Skizz's builds. He is an *artist* ok.
So I guess here's my own version of the guess the build museum. Starting with Round 1! I'll probably also do separate posts for each round or this will just be ridiculously long. And of course with a cut because it's ridiculously long already anyways.
I forgot about the 60 second rounds they did in the first one. Oh boy. Anyways, starting off with Grian's video and a quote actually cause clearly this pattern started right from the beginning and that was hilarious to me.
Grian: We're only showing the journey of our original build. To get the bigger picture, after this video is finished you can check everyone's video out to see just where it all went wrong.
Grian: It was Skizz.
We love Skizz for it though.
Then we have "Panda calling for help" by Gem?! I know this was the 60 second rounds but wow. """Panda""" To be fair I certainly couldn't do better in 60 seconds, or even probably in 5 minutes like they usually have. Pulling this one mostly because it's Gem. Even the good builders forget what animals look like a little sometimes.
And Jimmy's panda was actually closer to looking like a panda too.
And Skizz joins the museum party officially from Joel's video with "no one came to fire fighter endermans party." He was so proud of his fireman hat too. Poor Skizz. Also the first appearance of the ghast tears. Those and the ender eyes in item frames are so funny and so cursed.
I love that I caught him looking like he sulking about his build here too.
And we stick with Skizz through his "shrek hanging out with a banana." Joel's squeaking at it is the best reaction. And then Impulse keeping Skizz company with "goblin with banana" which even kind of sounds like a title you'd see in an art museum sometimes.
Moving to Impulse's video he starts off strong with "Barbie bench pressing 200 lbs." Some one needs to tell this guy he can just build the clothes and skip the body that goes inside them. But despite having too much skin on the body, there was none to spare for the head apparently and we got hair eyes.
And I didn't grab the builds for it but Skizz's guess of "building weightlifting" in this lane met with all of them absolutely hounding on him about thinking everything is a building was really funny too.
Then we get "A motorcycle with freakishly small wheels and an oversized biker jumping a camel." by Impulse. They told him this was the 60 second round right? Like I'm all for long elaborate prompts cause I think they make for funnier builds. But dude. His quote when they were revealing said it all.
Impulse: It took me longer to read the book than it did to build it. Anyway.
And I kept this whole line because every single build was a left turn.
And some how, some how Gem got "Camel race car" from that. I don't know how that didn't turn into something about a banana and actually kept a vehicle in the mix.
So Joel built this.
Which I think is hilariously better than the camel he tried to build in a more recent Guess the Build. I think if he just took that last stair block off the top of its head he's have a pretty damn good camel for 60 seconds of work.
Then the next guess was "Camel riding in a car" which is sensible. And clearly buildable in 60 se... Oh Skizz is next. Umm... ooooookayyyyy. Well. Here we go...
Yes. 60 seconds. So he spends 45 of them building 4 wheels in the most inefficient way possible, complete with floating blocks and breaking the support blocks he used to place them and everything. But at least he got the camel hump in there... That'll definitely get the whole prompt across...
Bonus Skizz hiding in shame of his "Meat trolley" according to Grian's guess.
Also where did the bats come from. I noticed them flying around in Gem's video. I do not understand the spawn conditions of bats.
Also love Gem unmuting to all the guys wallowing about how short the time is and she's just like 'yea I nailed that.' And then she gets to the panda...
And her uh oh at the Mary Poppins prompt. Oh my gosh I can't. It was perfect.
Up next we have "A Butterfly reading a book" by Jimmy. His assessment of it was too good to leave out.
Jimmy: For some reason, I build a hotdog. I didn't mean to.
He sounded just as baffled with himself as his friends were. He built the thing and he had no idea how it happened.
Also the fact both he and Skizz immediately assessed it to be a mickey mouse hot dog independently of each other was really funny.
Next exibit. Grian's pancake princess aka. "Rapunzel diving into a swimming pool." It's a goofy build. It gets the point across clearly enough right. Oh. Oh no. Here comes Skizz again.
"A diving Axlelottle"
...
Nailed it.
Another entry from Gem. Seems like she needs the 60 second constraint to make it here this time. Here's her "Mary Poppins in hell."
Why is her head a tetris block? Nevermind that she hasn't seen the movie. She got the umbrella and whoever guessed it got it. Why. Is her head a tetris T piece. Gem. The thumb people style might have been better here.
And like any good Guess the Build museum post we will being wrapping it up with a couple more gems from The Skizzle Man.
Skizz: I don't wanna look stUpid.
Skizz: That ship has sailed
He said it not me.
I love that he takes a step back and then looses it at his own build. I love him. Here's his "Mumbo playing poker with PacMan" which elicited such a reaction.
Also when they got to the end of Skizz's lane I spotted an axolotl wandering around the previous lane with Grian's pancake princess. So clearly at some point that didn't make it into the videos they kept ragging on Skizz over the axolotl Rapunzel mix up. And isn't that a sentence. I wish we could have seen that though...
Another thing with Skizz is he places blocks so slowly in the 60 second one. So. Slowly. And Grian's super flat "Skizz. Skizz. When he sees Skizz's camel in a race car. That tickled me. He's too shocked to emote almost.
Also as another bonus... Skizz, at this point in his android alien build:
Skizz: This is just a moose. Hold on.
Skizz: *changes the antenna thing slightly*
Skizz: This is just an older moose.
A MOOSE?! Skizzleman hello?!!! Someone PLEASE take this man to a zoo. Get him one of those children's first animals books. Anything. A moose?!!! I know he doesn't have a good track record of getting the right colors for things either but usually he's at least a little close. Grey and lime green. Grey and. Lime. Green. Moose.
Edit before I even post it: BUT I SHOWED THIS TO MY MOTHER AND SHE SAID GIRAFFE!!!!! AND THEN SHE GUESSED ANTELOPE?!!! I don't... know what to say. But that's a thing that happened today...
If anyone wants to see some cool pictures from the Artemis II mission and hear someone talk about them and point out cool nerdy things you should check out this video by Hank Green.
It was genuinely so soothing to watch. He was more relaxed and calm in this one than his usual high energy self. And he had this really nice soothing audio behind him and there was no video of him, just the photos and a passionate nerd talking about them.
Definitely almost cried at a couple different points. Cause space and photography as the meeting point of art and science and Artemis and how far space exploration has come since the Apollo missions. It was just very comforting. Might use it to fall asleep to tonight...
Worth a watch even if you're not an astro nerd too honestly. It's cool stuff even just from a pure art perspective if that's more your thing.
More museum time. I'm not going to do all the individual links for this one since each video is it's own full round and so will get it's own post now. But I'll include time stamps for the screen shots where I remember. Though funny thing with this one, I don't think I actually watched this one from Joel before cause I don't recognize the builds at all. So that's a fun added bonus to doing these is I'm getting to see what I missed.
Anyways. Cut to keep this from being 6 miles long. Enjoy!
I guess these are going to start with quote grabs instead of builds just in general cause we got another goof from Impulse this time. But it does come with a picture.
Impulse (7:30): And this is where you learn that you did the stuff too close together
Nailed it.
They keep talking about green being banned and now I'm trying to remember what happened in the other videos from this round that would have warranted that. I'm also starting to wonder if I can't figure out what order they filmed these in as I do these. Joel's was clearly not number 1. I've always enjoyed the way the quality of builds jumps around between episodes based on that order too. They are more fun when they are starting to loose it a little bit.
Anyways, the first official piece in this exibit is of course from Skizzleman. Here we have Skizz's "a warden sending a message via morse code" [13:55]:
He really made a warden and then immediately added eyes to it. Like after the initial shape that was the first thing. With no hesitation. *exasperated sigh* That's my minecraft youtuber
Next up is one from Gem, less because it's particularly cursed and more because it somehow worked?
Gem's "Joel as a berry bush tree" [16:10] actually got the prompt across well enough that it was guessed pretty well after. But the prompt that got her here was almost funnier. A build that was clearly Joel holding to berry bushes became Joel is the berry bush tree. Jimmy. Buddy. What? This line evolved a lot and fast, but at least Joel made it through.
Also Joel's initial build and prompt for this line was very cute. Lot's of beans. But we're here for the funny ones mostly and also I couldn't find a single screen grab for that one that showed off the build really well.
Skizz is back again with "Spiderman walking the plank" [17:00]. Or a fire hydrant. For a guy who's seen so many movies and remembers so many quotes you'd think he'd at least remember the color blue.
Also it at least spawned this cute exchange:
Grian: Skizz, at some point, everyone peaks at their artistic skill? Yours was about age three
Skizz: *laughs*
Skizz: Don't insult three year olds like that
And we wrap up this exibit with another Skizz special. The "creeper godzilla" [20:19]
I just think it's cute. It's that classic Skizz style of face that's not *quite* right, arms with a few to many joints, strange position/size of the head relative to the body and a mix of flat pixel art and attempts at 3D shaping.
Also Grian's build right before this was really cool too but it was so large there didn't seem like a nice spot for a single screen grab either. But I really liked the back spikes on it.
Mumbo is really having some very weird luck. I'm watching his beating minecraft video now. And I feel like I usually only see this type of post for the life series videos but I'm doing one for this anyways. I had a fun time. I forget sometimes how much I like Mumbo's video style, especially with how he's played with it since season 10.
He got a fortress in the soul sand valley which is the most dangerous biome for it to spawn in. He spawned in the basalt delta up high in the nether. His trading luck is terrible and even his spawn biome put him really far from any trees initially.
But then he gets two wither skeleton skulls really quickly. Gets return to sender on a ghast and gets knocked across lava by a piglin brute that then stops attacking him because it knocked him so far away. And now he's back in the overworld just casually walking past a striped wolf and a camel and doesn't even comment on either of them.
Did he just call an enderman fidgety? Pot, kettle much? I'm having a great time.
MINING FATIGUE! HIS LUCK!
"I can do a many cycle and be happy... am I happy?" This man and his spontaneous existential crises.
He has one gold apple and one pork chop. Oh and a bit of bread.
Why does he sound like a golf announcer while shooting the first end crystal.
And he's surprising himself with the most low stakes bucket clutch. I'm fighting so hard not to wake up my family laughing right now. He plays minecraft how I do: very poorly.
"I don't know how much damage these are actually doing." Mumbo there is a health bar at the top of the screen you can see how much damage they do!
How is he actually hitting all these water buckets though. I need to know how many failed ones he edited out.
He did it. He thought he couldn't at the end there 'running out of ways to do damage'. But he did it.
DRAGON IDK IF YOU SAW THIS CLIP ALREADY BUT SKIZZ REANIMATED HIMSELF IN THAT GHOST GAME STREAM YESTERDAY AND IM SCREAMING PHASMO AU WHEN IMPULSE WALKED IN
made me so excited I apologize for capslock but thats how I feel
Like
guardian angel Skizz
I did see that! I was so ridiculously excited too. There have been a couple moments I've seen in videos that I really want to collect. Especially when Skizz called himself a guardian angel in Simple Life. I squealed. I should learn how to do clips properly like that.
linking your link for convenience
I still can't believe that happened. There's an alternate timeline of my story somewhere where they don't know Skizz can do that and Impulse gets the poop scared out of him by Skizz reanimating like that.
