Another homologation special, the Mercedes-Benz 450 SLC 5.0. It had an aluminum 5.0L V8 and lightweight aluminum panels. This illustration is part of my updated R107 / C107 history poster currently in the works.
When I first met Takuhiro 3 years ago at the underground #Renown meet in Tokyo, he brought an extremely clean #C107 #450SLC on his beautiful Penta inspired @hwa_asteroid_wheels. It wasn’t until he popped his hood that I realized he was completely mad. Inside concealed a big turbo 2JZ while the interior looked completely original 1973 Mercedes Benz. So when a few months ago he asked me which car I wanted him to bring to our meet, I had to see his #190E. In my favorite color of #almandine, this #Evo1 conversion is exactly how I’d modify my #RenownCossie if I ever had the courage to cut it up. Can’t wait to see it again! 🖤 Incredible captures by @mark_scenemedia. 🔥 If you are interested in a set of these wheels, we proudly distribute. Cheers!🍻 (at Renownusa.com San Francisco) https://www.instagram.com/p/BvehGkzlF4H/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1ll600twvr3ak
Took my 450SLC out to Saugatuck, MI for the weekend…. perfect weather, nice scenery, and I think I got about 18mpg over 400 miles.
