Going CRZY. New Exhibition dropping this Friday the 13th with @surfacemag + 4AM Gallery in MIAMI! CRZY CHMSTRY. New paintings and works on paper on view… Opening Reception 5-11pm Friday, May 13th SURFACE AREA 151 NE 41st Street Suite 119 Miami, Florida 33137 Surface Magazine SURFACE AREA + 4AM GALLERY are pleased to present CRZY CHMSTRY, an exhibition of new paintings and works on paper by Gregory Siff. In CRZY CHMSTRY, Gregory Siff explores some of the most frequently recurring themes in his work; youth, freedom, love, memory and life. In his new collection of paintings, Gregory paints memories that haven’t become memories yet, breaking the lines of time by moving colors in a different method. These paintings start with abstract, gestural expressions from the gut and heart and are then laced with the story of our interconnected lives. He moves closer to some of his more iconic elements that repeat through his body of work by painting them larger and alone on the canvas. This allows the viewer and the artist to examine the importance of each specific image in a grander scale. Truly a study in understanding the heart and what it wants and how it breathes in time. The inexplicable magnet of love lives in CRZY CHMSTRY. American artist Gregory Siff is best known for his highly emotive style that merges abstraction, pop and action painting. By using inks, acrylic and spray-paint, he creates iconic elements in the form of storyboards, capturing time and nostalgia. His works have been included in MoMA PS1’s “Rockaway!”, “Vans Custom Culture” at the Whitney Museum of American Art and in luxury fashion house Saint Laurent’s F/W 2018 Collection. Gregory also collaborated with revolutionary fashion brand, Pyer Moss, painting pieces live on the runway that are now archived by The Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture.
