ANAKIN ROLLS INTO THE MEDBAY LIKE A STORM CLOUD: heavy and dark and silent, an eerie sort of calm about him despite bringing with him the threat of white-hot lightning. sterile medbay air is electrified, seeming to shift around him as he lurks in the doorway, simply watching with a vague indifference as medical droid neatly places a bacta patch to a cut above obi-wan's brow. something almost like guilt sinks to the pit of his stomach; after all, obi-wan had only endured this as means to buy anakin and ahsoka enough time to disarm the bombs scattered about the settlement. had he been quicker, then maybe—
you don't seem quite yourself.
the guilt goes flat when his former master finally meets his gaze, when anakin remembers why he came in the first place. dark eyes are unreadable as they rake over obi-wan, taking in every bruise and cut marring his face. ' i dont feel quite myself. ' he can't keep the mocking edge from his voice, indifference morphing into something sharper. a glare is shot at the medical droid, and it doesn't take long for it to clear out.
' ahsoka and i had a really interesting conversation just now, ' he starts, voice even and casual as he strolls further into the room. ' i'll spare you the details — i'm sure that you already know them. what i want to know, though, ' he stops just before obi-wan, looming over him, dark cloud blotting out florescent lighting, ' is why you thought it was acceptable — no, why you thought it was appropriate to go over my head and give my padawan sensitive information that i clearly didn't want her to have? '
@4sabers asked; [ TUCK ] sender finds receiver asleep somewhere and puts a blanket or their own coat over them /rex tucking in ahsoka because fambly @feartohate asked; [ TUCK ] sender finds receiver asleep somewhere and puts a blanket or their own coat over them / BWAUGH FOR AHSOKA THAT’S HIS LITTLE SISTER FR!!!
ahsoka was slumped in the first corner she could find, arms crossed over her chest and head resting on the wall, fast asleep. she'd stayed up late studying and then had a lot of training to do, and on top of that, they'd had quite the battle briefing they'd all had to prepare for. needless to say — ahsoka was tired. she wasn't a heavy sleeper, though — how could she be? she was battle trained by the best, and part of that training was to always be aware of her surroundings. so when she all of a sudden felt warmth engulf her, her eyes fluttered open to see what was going on.
standing over her were rex and anakin, wrapping her up in a blanket. they gently tucked her in, together, and honestly? ahsoka had never felt more cared for in her life. so instead of stirring and arguing with them like a more awake and less sentimental ahsoka might do, she reaches for the blanket, pulling it up tighter over her body. ❝thank you,❞ she mumbles, letting her eyes close again as she snuggles further into her little corner. ❝you guys are the best.❞ it's a quiet admission, but a heartfelt one. she couldn't ask for better big brothers — she had the best ones in the whole galaxy, she was sure of it.

@4sabers (ashoka) sent: i'll eat yours, if you don't want it.
Not exactly the best manners, but the way Katrina's currently sitting at the table has one knee up by her chest, elbow balanced over it, utensil dangling in hand. Luckily for her, the portion Ashoka had motioned to just so happens to be her least favorite part of this particular meal - a fact she no doubt knew, probably part of why she's offering - and so Katrina slides it towards her easily, without a second thought.
"Think I could get away with not going to lessons today?" Lips are tilted in the slightest little pout as she fidgets with her fork. "I think I'll lose my mind if I have to sit there quietly while there's another tangent-turned-lecture during history."

"No," Obi-Wan's tone is careful: a measured, mild agreement. "True understanding is certainly difficult to come by in many regards. In suffering, this is especially true." The alliance between them is tentative at best. Obi-Wan's Fall had been less of a sudden drop and more of a resigned trek downwards, less of a spectacular bang! and more of the quiet sparks of a fire slowly becoming cold embers. And where had that left him? Without allies. He couldn't return to the temple, to the Republic - even if he weren't utterly disillusioned by the numerous failures of both the Council and the Senate, his force signature, even hidden, would be a dead giveaway. As the singular black hole in an ocean of luminous stars, his return would be akin to floating a giant, pulsing sign over his head: Darksider here! Free Sith Lord for the taking! He would be captured in an instant - if not executed on the spot. Obi-Wan's shame, exposed at last. His undoing, as he knew it would be. And so, the past few months has seen him slowly cultivating allies out of neutral planets and systems: a slow, calculated crawl through Republic and Separatist territories - a dividing line frustrating both sides. Which sees him here: a neutral planetary system somewhere between the mid and outer rim, in the middle of talks that would decide if, rather than aligning themselves with Separatist bullying or Republic propaganda, the leaders of the planet might instead prefer another option: allying with a third party interested in ending the war as soon as feasibly possible. Or rather, he had been in the middle of talks. The refreshment break had gone over-long when sirens had alerted everyone on the premises of Separatist and Republic presence within the planet's atmosphere. And so here he was: with Grievous - as is becoming the norm, these days - both fighting against the Jedi. Because Obi-Wan knew he could at least attempt to convince Grievous to leave, but the Jedi and the Republic, on the other hand .. If Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi could see him now, barely a year into the future--
Finally experiencing a reprieve from battle, Obi-Wan powers down his lightsaber - still keeping it to hand just in case. The alliance with Grievous is tentative at best, kind of - it's a complicated situation, wherein neither of them quite want to kill each other. He thinks. At the very least, it's currently a lot better than Obi-Wan's relationship with the Jedi. Speaking of: "But I still find it curious that you seem to be of a singular mind to ally with me against the Jedi, even despite my lack of understanding. Is there a particular reason - or am I just special?"

A QUIET PANIC HAS BEGUN TO SETTLE IN THE GENERAL'S CHEST AT THE FOG CLOUDING HIS MIND. once sharp senses are ground to dust by the shrill ringing in his ears, the echo of his own pounding heartbeat against the walls of his skull, the shocks of nausea that roll through him if he so much as tilts his head. still not daring to open his eyes, he reaches into the force - searching, pleading - and is met with strain, with static. vaguely, he is aware of a steady presence to his left. beyond that?
he reaches into the force, brows furrowing with the effort. he is met with everything, and yet nothing at all.
panic coils tighter behind his ribs, his chest heaving with the weight of it. skywalker ignores the way his stomach lurches as he stirs, ignores the skull-splitting agony as his eyes flutter open.
he cannot, however, ignore the way the steady presence to his left shifts, gloved hand curling around his shoulder and easing him back down.
you're safe here. you're safe with me.
the weight on anakin's chest shifts some, the vice-grip on his heart loosening at that familiar voice. ' rex. ' his captain's name is more of a wheezy gasp than anything, but it's enough to get him to settle nonetheless. before rex can withdraw, durasteel fingers curl around his forearm, a silent plea. don't go.

THEY'RE SUPPOSED TO BE MEDITATING. key words: supposed to be. as it turns out, it's a bit more challenging to teach something when you yourself are not the biggest fan of it. take deep breaths, now, and clear your mind, he'd told her. open yourself up to the force. let it truly move through you, and try to visualize the connection you have with it.
. . . of course, he's improvising, repeating the same things his own master had said to him when he was but a padawan. this isn't exactly in his area of expertise ( though he won't be admitting that any time soon ); he feels a bit silly, even, trying to pass down wisdom that he himself does not fully grasp yet. quiet moments tick by, and anakin wonders if making him truly buckle down on all that he's learned through the years by giving him a padawan learner was part of yoda's plan all along. talking to her is like talking to myself sometimes, he muses. that old man knew exactly what he was doing.
master, do you like rex?
' . . . what? ' is that seriously what she's thinking about right now? what happened to clearing her mind of all distractions? when anakin opens his eyes, ahsoka is staring intently, inquisitively, with her chin in her hands and an air of mischief about her. he'll have to choose his next words very carefully. ' what kind of question is that, snips? of course i like him. ' tone is casual and even, so as to not give too much away. ' the captain's a good man, and a good friend. i trust him with my life. '
