thinking about the newsboys' strike and how it spread down to jersey and up to rochester and how formal everything was! they were just kids and a lot of them were only schooled in the lodging houses and THEY set that shit up and THEY spread the word and THEY started a fucking union!!! thinking about how the salvation army girls refused to sell papers in their stead because of the strike, too.
