Code research - Anime JS

Looking at the micro interactions for my product, I was directed to 'anime.js', which is an advanced Javascript library for creating silky-smooth animations.

Delving further, it appears to work straight out of the box, enabling me to create animations and effects without much overhead, this should definitely come in handy.

Visualisation Moodboards - Audio Eclipse

On a similar note to the oscilloscope visuals. Another potential route is having a minimal visual like an audio eclipse, where slivers of colour emerge as the sound wavelength increases. I think this might have some potential as an interest art style. My only concern is that it might be *too* simple. Although I don't see an issue of having this as just one option out of many styles to choose from.

Visualisation Moodboards - Oscilloscopes

Aside from the hyper-immersive 3D artwork, another approach to visualising audio could potentially be to use oscilloscope visuals.

This style also fits an initial art direction that I looked at of synthwave/post-futurism.

Visualisation Moodboards - Neel Shivdasani

Looking at more audio reactive visualisations, I came across the wonderful work of Neel Shivdasani. There’s some interface inspiration in there as well, with the use of a pegboard-like tool to change the visual output.

Visualisation Moodboards - TouchDesigner Gallery

One of the most crucial parts of my product is the visualisations itself, as they are front and centre of Synthesesia; without them the project is moot.

Before creating my own visuals, I’ve started to collect some audio-reactive visuals that are out there in the wild, to get some possible direction that I can take it.

Firstly, I came across a large assortment of visuals from creators using TouchDesigner software.

Logo moodboards - Logo Archive

Continuing with the aesthetic of logos from the 60s and 70s, I came across a fantastic resource from the Logo Archive with a plethora of work from the UK, in a similar style to the Soviet logos using hard geometric forms.

One style in particular that I would love to emulate for my logo design is that of old Soviet logos.

Something about the simplistic compositions coupled with tasteful negative space, whilst also working perfectly in black and white, just seems to really speak to me for this project.
