2022 can be best described as a roller coaster. My "baby" turned 18, graduated from high school, moved across the country for college, and is thriving. I've battled health issues for 8 of the 12 months still without any answers. It had helped me to lose almost 50 pounds though. I've been able to mark a few more states off my #50by50 and I did one of my bucket list items by visiting NYC and purchasing a piece from Tiffany & Co. John and I have been able to start going back to live events which has been great. Trying to focus on the good things of 2022 and working to change the less than in 2023. And so it begins….

5K with a friend yesterday, and 5K today with my love. Tomorrow is strength training and 10K steps. This is going down. And that cow is my hydration spirit animal.

I suck at updates.

Which doesn’t bode well for someone using a social media platform for sharing their triathlon journey.  Sooo..about those updates.  I actually did three more 70.3 Ironman races since that last post.  It was quite the journey with highs and lows, and way way lows, and a dramatic finish to the last one.  I know, “Cool story bra,” right?  I’m trying to figure out a social media balance to posting and whatnot, so I’m starting over again.  I’ll be posting my next adventure on Tumblr and Instagram, and will be throwing back posts to share how I got to this point so you won’t miss the riveting tale of my Ironman coming-of-age.  About three of you will see this and maybe one of you will be interested, so let’s see how it goes on this Accountability Adventure.  We are embarking on an adventure to lose 50 pounds by the time I turn 50 years old on September 17 2022.  Also, Ironman 70.3 Number Five will be a week(ish) later on September 25th in Cozumel Mexico. You are my unsuspecting accountability partners.  You can join me along the way or not, but I need to put this out there into the universe and see what happens.  I will post at least twice a week to share progress, thoughts on my training, to reflect back on how I got here and to look forward to what’s ahead.  My instagram is @valerie69377

Before, during & after. Awesome Night Train Half Marathon in Farmville, VA. Beautiful course on an old railroad bed running to the High Bridge starting & ending in Farmville’s charming downtown. This makes my third state in my 50 State 50 Half goal of running a half marathon in every state before the big 5-0 in 2022. (NC & NY are my others). For Mother’s Day, Viv & Warren surprised me with the gift of making this happen. 47 states to go! That's the most celebration one can get from D 😜 A few years ago @divyadp14 @gayatrimoray @npaniker @manasdk moghe and I met an old couple in Costa Rica, doctors who worked with Doctors Without Borders and traveled the world helping people. They introduced us to the concept of 50 by 50. We loved it instaneously and decided to try it out. We've learnt so much in the last few years exploring new cultures, traditions, history, food, drink.
