Gina do you think that the song ‘5280 miles’ is AI? ‘Cause I saw that the song written and registered by Harry (and unreleased) is called ‘5378 miles’. I also remember seeing a screenshot of that song listed as registered by Harry Styles named like that (5378 miles) at that time, before the song was posted on the internet.

I don’t know, the song sounds real but I don’t understand why the title is different. Also sorry, I don’t recall where i’ve seen that screenshot.

Yeah, I remember that, as well. But no, I don’t think it’s AI at all. My guess would be that there were two songs. Or the one we heard wasn’t the final version and the song was changed by the time he registered it.

I always liked this theory about 5378 miles.

And, as 5280 miles (the song) seems to be very much about Anne and being away from her, I’d say the number is related to the distance between where H was when he wrote it and where Anne lives.

Hello. Do you believe that Harry’s unreleased song 5280 is a love song?

It sounds like a love song to me. But not necessarily a romantic one. I honestly always thought 5280 Miles was a song for Anne.

I especially think the lyrics “Soon the summertime will come and take the clouds to bring the light/You’ve done the same for me a thousand times” and “‘Cause everybody needs someone to hold on to/‘cause everybody needs someone like you” and “You never told me who to love/But you showed me how” sounds very much like the love between a mother and a child.

He talks about being somewhere far enough that it’s nighttime where he is and daytime where the other person is and there was a long period of time where he was living in LA.

Plus, the distance between Los Angeles and Holmes Chapel is 5289 miles. If you were using exact locations I think it could easily be 5280.

Obviously, I don’t know. But that’s what it sounds like to me.

Hello. I was just wondering what your thoughts are on who Harry’s unreleased song 5,280 Miles is about? I think it’s a beautiful song and part of me thinks it’s about his mom because of the line “ you never told me who to love but you showed me how” and then it sounds like it could be for a certain someone (Louis) Thoughts??

Hi Anon! I hope you're having a good day. 5,280 Miles is such a beautiful song. I love it. I'm not a great song analyzer, but I'll try. :)

For me, it's a love song. Which doesn't necessarily mean it's not about his mother, but it feels far too romantic to me. And as much as I adore my child, this feels to intimate to be a parent/child love song. So, for me, it's about missing his lover/spouse/partner, so it's Louis.

That all said, both H&L are really good at layering their lyrics and making things feel like they could be about more than one thing. So maybe it's a homesick song. He's far away from everyone he loves, and he's lonely.

In thinking about the line you mentioned could be toward his mother - for me - it speaks to having met Louis when he was 16, before (probably) he knew what being in love meant. I feel like that line directly speaks to that growing up and with someone and love evolving together.
