Park Bench (LH)
The park bench was wet from the rainfall earlier that morning, but you sat down anyway, not caring if you received a wet spot on your bum. Slumping forward, you placed your head in your hands.
“Hard day, huh?”
You shot your head up, being too tired to realize that someone had been sitting on the bench when you sat down.
“I’m so sorry, I thought the bench was empty, my over-used brain is failing me already and its already noon.” You went to stand up when you caught him smiling.
Noticing his way to perfect smile made you return the gesture.
“So,” he looked down and folded his hands together, “Where do you work?”
“At Gina’s, that quaint little diner on Opal Street. Where do you work?”
“I’m in the, uh, music industry?” He tilted his head in this cute puppy dog manner.
“It’s your job, don’t ask me.” You laughed at his adorableness.
“I’m Luke.” He flashed you another one of his award-winning smiles.
“Y/N.” You held out you hand for him to shake, but instead he high-fived you. Chuckling you drew your hand back, after that you two fell in an uncomfortable silence, him still blushing from his previous hand-shake high-five.
“So, I- “
Maybe we- “
You both laughed at your impeccable timing.
“Ladies first, of course.” He fakes bowed, which looked at tad strange sitting down, yet still looked cute when he did it.
“Maybe we could exchange numbers, and properly meet up. When I’m not in an apron.”
He looked down, finally noticing your work attire.
“Yeah,” He giggled,” let’s do that.” After exchanging numbers your phone buzzed, signaling the end of your lunch break.
“I better go.” You stood up from the bench and stretched your back, preparing for the walk back to the diner.
“O-okay” He stood as well.
“Goodbye, Luke.” You smiled up at him, seeing now that he was at least 1 foot taller than you.
“Goodbye Y/N.” Already beginning to turn to leave, your name on his tongue made you pause. Quickly waving at him, hoping he hadn’t seen your little pause.
Opening the door to the diner to start your shift, you realized you had been smiling the entire walk back.
