Twelfth Grade (Or Whatever): Liv Belcik [istj]
“I haven’t left the vicinity of my house in about a year and a half.” (dominant introverted sensing - Si) Liv has stayed inside her house since the anxiety that followed the death of her father and brother eighteen months before the start of the vlog. She remains hung up on that and the anxiety that followed it, fearing entering coffee shops because of previous incidents of hyperventilating due to stares at her. She is also pretty detail-oriented, remembering the specific parts of Doctor Who she enjoyed versus the parts she was less keen on. When she begins to get out of the house more at the end of the series, she turns to the happier parts of the past for comfort, such as her old journals of warrior cats original characters.
“It feels good to be back in control.” (Auxiliary Extroverted Thinking - Te) Liv is at first glance rather aloof and cold, particularly to people she isn’t close to. When “Sam” pays their first visit to her, she immediately tells him to make the speech short and to the point, having a low tolerance for guys BSing to her. As she mentions in “Control”, Liv has a desire to keep the world around her organized and predictable the way her Si likes it to be. Her actions are generally planned based on routine or some goal in mind, as the vlogs were created to combat her agoraphobia, and she befriends Malcolm as to prevent intrusive people from pointing out that she has no friends.
“I mean, she’s not totally faultless, but you can’t just call her a bitch.” (tertiary introverted feeling - Fi) Liv wants to be seen for who she really is, as explained in Manic Pixie Dream girl, where she berates the nameless Illyrian boys for claiming to love her but not really knowing her. She also has deep personal opinions and strives for honesty rather than harmony first, as can be seen when she argues with Malcolm over Marie Antoinette and when she tells Tammi she can’t say Doctor Who is really her favorite show even though that’s what Tammi thinks the internet wants to hear. Her feelings are often a bit hidden by her auxiliary Te shell, but she cares greatly about the people who get close to her such as Tammi, and eventually Viola, and utilizes her Te toward making sure they are safe during the fight.
“I wonder if there’s any food in there.” (inferior extroverted intuition - Ne) Liv has difficulty coping with change, and most of her arc is her Te fighting her Si to make a change that should happen but she fears due to its unknown nature and her history of anxiety. However, as Viola/Sam keeps insistently visiting her, Liv accepts the fact that her opinion of them changes so greatly. Viola, an Ne-dom, ignites her Ne in a way, showing her that the possibilities she faces when she leaves the house might not be as bad after all. Nevertheless, change still difficult for her and she tends to revive old interests like hiking and drawing rather than seek new ones after going back to life outside the house.
Enneagram: 6w8 As a Type 6, Liv is security-oriented, anxious, and suspicious. This manifests pretty strongly in her staying inside the house, which allows her to be more in control of her circumstances, showing her 8 wing, a desire to be in control and fear of being controlled.
In her tritype she definitely has a little bit of 5 in gut, shown by how willing she is to investigate Sam’s fight in the part and she also has probably 4 and 1 in heart
