3 weeks to race day
Dan keeps teasing me about how I’m going to be going to the 70.3 WC next year. I think his expectations of my race performance may need some adjustment towards reality.
Two more weeks of training in the books; my rest week which involved some shuffling because I had commitments on the 25th:
And my biggest week yet (only week over 11 hours):
I abandoned Thursday’s stepped power ride for a ride out to the old school with Dan. I had been having a tough time mentally on the TT bike and I was just so happy to get out on the road bike! There was a brutal wind from the south but I couldn’t stop smiling.
It was just what I needed to reinvigorate me before my longest run of the training cycle. That run was brutal - it was super humid and my gut wasn’t particularly happy with me but I persevered and made it through!
One more big brick coming up this week and then the taper can begin.
The sweat was pouring off me after today’s run. While I ran my pigtails flicked sweat everywhere. It was gross but the heat warning is over now.
Yay! Next week is a rest week!
I made it to my rest week! The next rest week will technically be my taper - how did that happen?! I’m meeting my main goal of staying consistent but it’s been tough with unseasonably high temperatures and heat warnings in June.
I’ve been using my outdoor bike rides to fine tune the food and drink set-up and I’ve lost more than a few Honey Stinger Chews along the way. I think I’m nearly there. I did my brick in my new tri-suit and identified where I’ll need extra body glide.
I was hoping to get in an open water swim but that hasn’t worked out yet. Fingers crossed I get to it in the next few weeks.
