Art Basel is here and I don’t know about you guys but I stay clear from 395 and 195 respectively while making my way over from Wynwood to the beach. By taking 79th st, you’ll be surprised how much less traffic you’ll experience but you’ll also notice how many restaurants and cool spots to kick it slightly away from the madness in Normandy Isles. You’ll find restaurants of French, Moroccon, Argentine, Japanese tastes the list of countries goes on! If you’ve been anywhere near North Beach then you’ve noticed the post World War II style homes and buildings that still provide a unique European charm unlike anywhere else in Miami. Of course, with all the vast changes taking place throughout our Magic City, people are now more than ever looking for multiple reasons to move into a neighborhood long before they even consider it. Hence, we have an iconic community on the verge of something great.

GET LOST WITH BRIAN BUTLER
Day Thirty-Seven: How To Get Back On It
Some days you're over it. You're over the rain. You're over the humidity. You're over looking like Monica on that episode of FRIENDS where they go to Barbados. You're over people being able to see their reflection in your face. You're over being part-time freelance, not knowing what your schedule will be on a day to day basis or when you're next paycheck is coming in. You're over #projectlife101, and trying to find creative things to do to entertain you people. You're over museums and outdoor activities (which you can't do in the rain anyway).
But then, in the middle of Lord & Taylor and a necessary sunglasses purchase because you lost your favorite pair, you realize it's Day Thirty-Seven, and you're in this thing for 64 more days, and you have done some amazing things and have even more exciting things planned. So you cut yourself some slack, call up a friend, pick a restaurant you've been wanting to visit but haven't yet, order a pitcher of sangria, sit back, enjoy the view, and realize despite all the things that aggravated you today, life is pretty damn good.
I went to the 79th Street Boat Basin Cafe for dinner and drinks with my friend Bri tonight. I run past this spot numerous times a week, and had it on my list of UWS staples to try, so I decided tonight was the night for it. Supposedly the best time to go is on the weekends for brunch, but I think it's silly to wait for the perfect time when you have right now. We had burgers (mine was veggie), chips (even though I swore not to touch another chip after the LBI overload), and sangria, and finished off the night with a slightly rainy walk home up Hudson River Park. It was lovely.
In conclusion, the best way to handle life when it seems to be poking at you unnecessarily, is to spend time with friends, try a new restaurant, and go for a walk. Oh and get ice cream. Always get ice cream.
On to tomorrow.
Tonight's dinner view.
