Excuse my ignorance. I only half get this (a riff on the actual Chinese New Year greeting, right?). Please explain?

there's lots of homophones in Chinese so the greeting for Happy (Gregorian calendar) New Year - yuan dan kuai le (元旦快乐) sounds the same as yuan dan kuai le (圆蛋快了) which could be literally translated as round egg quick [modal particle] "了" - which I've translated as "eh"

No worries! I saw it a few weeks ago and thought it was alright. I mean, I don't feel particularly strongly about it either way. (Actually the main reason I reblogged those posts was because it reminded me of a conversation I had years ago with someone who thought it was obvious and took it for granted that it was better for ~humanity~ to survive, no matter which form it took. and I was so flabbergasted that genetic continuance or whatever was his fundamental definition of humanity and it was an ultimate good that outweighed permanent brutal cruelty and suffering. like, I was a materialist (still am) and thought (still do) that was a totally insane position to take. and maybe the weirdest thing about the whole thing was he was surprised I wasn't on board with it.)

How do you do the first one without being given units. The second well: 2000-24, right?

oops so many typos cause I was running late for work. It should have been "convert 1.89m" and "simplify." and yeah. they're not trick questions. it's literally grade 4 math. (well, I guess order of operations bumps it up to grade .... 6?)

Was it ever! I read it in 2004 and can't even remember very much except SAD INTENSE PIANO OVEN RIVER SCENE WITH BABY CORPSE JAZZ NEW YORK.

I have been working on this!

Two days ago I was eating an apple on the streetcar and thought it would be cool to write story about dofp Quicksilver eating apples/making and using an apple bong. I got as far as deciding on "crunch crunch" as the written out apple-eating sounds.

So tonight for inspiration I've listened to 3 hrs or so of 70s pop playlists on youtube, starting with the New York Cosmos documentary soundtrack. It hasn't really helped. Though I now know that I am into Eruption and ye-ye French pop (but I guess I could have known that before since I was hung up on an early France Gall cd years ago).

Now I am eating my third (and last) pickle.

Agree, I didn't get far enough down the thread when I posted that. It was like 20% crazy, 80% great. Also yes. Agree agree! If only everyone got actual reasonable support, which doesn't seem common :(

i also liked a lot of the responses. but one that had me LOL was when someone was like...he could join the military. what???????????????????

would be nice if it were a military without the fighting. or shouting. or punishment. just some place with a lot of structure and set tasks. so basically a sanatorium??

Really??? I actually liked a lot of the responses. It was more the OP and some commenters who echoed the kind of place he was coming from that I wanted to lololol sad trumpet lololol towards. And also sad trumpets of envy that there are all these lucky people who had the kind of support/resources/understanding in dealing with their own stuff they were writing about that I can't even full imagine. I mean, how amazing would it be if everyone got it.
