Eight Facts About Remington Anne Thornbolt!
1.) Sharpshooter - Remington was handed her first hunting rifle at the age of ten. She bagged her first boar the same night. Growing up in rural Elwynn Forest and Westfall, she often assisted Gregory in his hunting trips. She’s gotten bears, rabbits, a couple murlocs, foxes, and everything else in between.
Most every day practicing and wielding a rifle’s made her an excellent shot that could even impress even the most veteran farstrider or sentinel. In her adolescence, she’s won archery and sharpshooting contests when squared up against bonafide adults.
Even in undeath, she always shows respect and thankfulness for her quarry that make the sacrifice to be food and leather. She hates folk that hunt solely for sport, like Hemet Nesingwary.
2.) Argent Crusade Veteran - Anger was one of the prime emotions Remington felt after she learned Arthas was behind Lordaeron’s fall. After spending the first few years of unlife like an angry loose cannon and feeling alone with her father seemingly missing, Remy enlisted in the Argent Crusade the first chance she got when she heard the Crusade was wanting to strike back. She was a known pathfinder, scout, and survivalist within the Argent Crusade.
Perhaps the most significant act she performed in the War Against the Lich King was sneaking under the noses of three-hundred ghouls surrounding the Argent Vanguard to resupply the fort by smearing herself in ghoul guts, earning her the nicknames “Mad Anne” and “Ghoul Ghost.” She still has her dog tags with both nicknames around her neck, but they’re often hidden under what collar she’s wearing that day.
After the War Against the Lich King, she reunited with her father, Gregory. It’s one of her fondest days in unlife.
3.) Wide-Brimmed Hat - Remington’s wide-brimmed hat is the only possession she still owns from her living days. A gift from her mother, she always keeps it close and is VERY protective of it. Messing with the hat is a sure way to get on her bad side. The hat’s beaten and worn, but she refuses to get rid of it. It never leaves her side. If it ain’t on her head, it’s probably on her back.
4.) Northshire Cleric - Remington’s mother, May, was a Northshire cleric. And mother passed her teachings to the daughter. In life, Remington was a staunch adherent to the Holy Light and was a Northshire Cleric herself.
But after being risen, Remy’s faith has been shaken after the Light she loved burned her when she invoked it. She fell in with Cult of the Forgotten Shadow for a time. But after showing barely any signs of being able to invoke the void, she fell out of the faith.
Presently, Remy is sort of undecided. She believes the Light, Void, Loa, and everything else are all true and powerful forces. But she doesn’t need something telling her to do good to actually do good.
5.) Neutral - Remington, while immensely thankful to Sylvanas Windrunner for reuniting her with her undead father, doesn’t feel completely beholden to the Dark Lady. That is to say, even if Remington’s not officially fighting for the Horde, she doesn’t take kindly to folk speaking ill of the Dark Lady.
To her, Sylvanas gave her free will again and gave her a chance to have more happy days shortly after what was one of Remy’s most traumatic experiences. Remy won’t ever forget that.
And while she may not agree with the Warchief’s recent decisions, especially with Teldrassil and raising more undead, she still is respectful of the Dark Lady for what she’s done for her and the Forsaken as a whole, being there when no one else was to carve out a place on Azeroth where Undead would be welcomed, not vilified.
6.) Naive - Apart from the occasional unrequited crush, Remington has never experienced what romantic relationships in general are. This makes her a bit of an airhead when it comes to folk flirting. She often doesn’t recognize it or will just be painfully blunt. Though in a relationship? She’s clumsily sweet and thoughtful.
7.) Curious - If it weren’t for the entire… undead thing, Remy could have easily gone down the road of being a scientist of some sort. She displays a natural curiosity to most wildlife and people in general, making her a likely zoologist or anthropologist.
8.) Travel! - Back before the Argent Crusade, Remy distrusted anyone not Forsaken and especially hated Orcs. But after enlisting in the Argent Crusade and spending extended periods of time with the living, the stone wall that had been set around her heart slowly crumbled. She began to trust the living again. And years later, she conversely now gives everyone the benefit of the doubt unless they show her otherwise.
It’s been a journey to get where she is now. Remy presently just lives day by day through a saying May told her:
“Look fer the folks helpin’ durin’ tryin’ times. And if there ain’t any folks helpin, roll up yer sleeves and be the first.”
It takes a lot of restraint for her to not lash out when people label her under the banner of those who had a hand in Darkshore and Teldrassil. But she just tries to show, not tell. She believes a lot of problems could be solved if people just sat down and spoke genuinely.
She’ll sit down and speak with Alliance, Orcs, and living folk alike so long as they don’t raise a weapon first. She enjoys the company, and she relishes in meeting new folks!
