My mom’s friend, Mami, was able to put up with us while we’re here in NYC. She’s so nice.

Little Bit and I went to a laundromat as all her clothes were dirty. She didn’t want to do laundry in Santo Domingo. The laundromat was just several blocks away.

Last night Mami took us in her car to see all the city lights, it was so nice. This morning we went downtown by train, I’m not used to take trains and get overwhelmed easily but my sister told me exactly where to go which was not far from the house, just about 8 minutes walk. Then I had to figure out how to pay, I asked someone but he was not very helpful, some nice delivery guy who was there told me that I can use my bank card. We transferred trains and got to time square. We had lots of fun although it was raining at first.

Now we’re at the airport waiting, the plane leaves at 9pm. We paid for the suitcases from Santo Domingo and had to pay again today. Not right. Not my fault that the flight was cancelled, right? So many things that I can complain about. The other frustrating thing is that there are so many rude employees at LaGuardia airport, also at JFK.

The plane going to Memphis just got here so that’s good. We’ll be boarding in a little while.

Currently at my old friends condo. She has always inspired me. This feels good. Im so happy for her. She's the "strong" friend so I haven't always been the best friend. But I told her I'm proud of her because I am. She didn't open her birthday gift yet with hidden money so im ready to give that to her. Cheers to a beautiful next few weeks!

Today was equal parts irritating and satisfying

Lecture was horrendously boring

I got majorly confused in GIS

Lunch consisted of a chili dog, mashed potatoes, and some nachos that gave me a stomach ache

I had to run back to my dorm to redo graphs for lab that my professor promptly ignored

Our lab did not work like it was supposed to and I was the last one out

My hands still smell like latex

It's so goddamn hot in the dorms that I already stink

But...

I got my fidget toy and a check I was waiting for in the mail

I recruited another student for the Iceland trip

Dr. Kruger smiled at my fish pictures

Dr. Christensen liked my presentation

I think I made some friends

I made a 99 on my first limnology test and got full credit on an assignment I thought I bombed

So after this day of highs and lows, I decided to take a victory nap simply for getting through the day where I promptly had an anxiety dream wake me up and made me realize I was sticky with sweat because the dorms are so. god. damn. hot.

Now it feels like I'm walking through the world without my glasses on. Everything's here, and I can see it all but that doesn't mean I know what it is.

Maybe tomorrow will be a better day. I think I'll shower now.
