Perhaps we’ll meet again when we’re better for each other.
Ten Word Poem #6
I can’t escape the deep ache in my chest, When I look at you and only see, Where her lips had been pressed, Against yours, Just the night before. I sit on the edge of your bed, Trying to study and not think about, How this was where you took her over the edge, On two different nights before. You want me around but don’t want to admit, You feel different when it’s me that you’re with. And I should feel so angry but truthfully, All I am is upset and tired, That what I am is never enough, Never wanted nor desired. And I wish I could do what would fill you with jealousy, Make you realise and finally see, But how? When even a simple kiss, Means something to me.
I shouldn’t do this, to me, to you, it is cruel, and I am selfish, to try to fulfill my wish, but is it truly a sin, to act when I know I’ll always win, and you’ll let me come closer, to lean my head against your shoulder?
hii lovely people! how’re you all doing?! it’s been a very long time I hope you’re all well :)
I just wanted to hop on here to say thank you!
I owe so much to this community and the love my poems received (and still receive!) here. I started writing poetry 10 years ago when I was just 13 and began sharing it on this blog pretty early on. At the time, I was writing to process my feelings and then sharing my work here in the hopes that I wasn’t alone in what I was feeling.
In the last two years I’ve started trying to get my poetry out there, and have so far had them published in two magazines and a book! I know for a fact that if I hadn’t had the years of encouragement and positivity here when sharing my very early work, I never would’ve felt brave enough to take my writing seriously and send it out to journals and competitions.
I hope to one day share my newer work here when the time feels right, but until then thank you again for all the love ❤️ :)
“[…] I loved him. I was weary of the burden of my secret; often in my boardinghouse room I could feel it growing within me until I thought I should burst, and all the time I was becoming more and more of an idiot, unable to take an interest in anyone or anything else.”

Henri Matisse corresponded with his close friend, writer/artist André Rouveyre ~ sometimes writing several times a day ~ and liked to illustrate the envelopes in his characteristic style (1941-45)

We’re only halfway through the year and already I’ve learnt some life lessons I’ll carry with me forever.
Sometimes you have to get what you wished for to realise it’s not what you needed
Not everything you want is good for you
You can’t rush healing
Healing in itself is relative and there is no date by which you’re meant to be over something
Not all pain is created equal
Some pain will have no expiry date and you must learn to live with it
What balm could soothe the aching muscle in my chest?
