81/80: All 80 Robins Used

My intentions for this Eighty Robins in Eighty Days series is to have a countdown of eighty Robins, Robin inspired characters, or Robin analogues once a day until the anniversary when Robin first appeared in comics in Detective Comics (Vol. 1) #38 on 6 March, 1940. Unfortunately, I forgot to factor in that 2020 is a leap year, which makes my countdown one day off, which exlains this extraneous post. When I started off with this project, I wasn't sure that I could find eighty Robins, but surprisingly I found more than I needed. The many Robins run the gauntlet – most are one the side of good, but a fair amount steers in the other direction. The posts are fashioned like the DC Comics Deck-Building Game from Cryptozoic Entertainment. With the Blue representing Heroes, Red representing Villains, Grey representing those that are neutral, and Black representing a Robin analogue. Hopefully, my followers enjoyed this project as much as I enjoyed making them.

60/80: Barbara Gordon as Robin (Earth-37)

Barbara Gordon is a rebellious young woman in the early 1960s. Alienated from her father due to the unsolved murder of her mother, she becomes a thrill-seeking vigilante with her boyfriend, a circus acrobat named Rickart Graustark, who goes by the alias Dick Grayson. Gordon is a wealthy heiress, receiving a large inheritance from the death of her mother and purchases Wayne Manor – the Waynes having been ruined by the Great Depression. After the death of Grayson, Gordon went into a mental breakdown only to come out of it and take on the mantle of Robin to get revenge for Grayson by killing his killer – Bianca Steeplechase as the Joker. 5/80: Jason Todd as Robin (New Earth)

Jason Todd was the son of Willis Todd and Sheila Haywood, although his mother was forced to relinquish his custody when Willis married Catherine Todd. Catherine was a drug addict and died from an overdose, while his father had once worked for Two-Face and was murdered by the criminal. Legally an orphan, Jason lived in his father's apartment in a derelict building in Crime Alley, where he turned to crime out of necessity. Jason became highly skilled in stealing tires from vehicles and during one of his usual thefts, he met Batman as he stole the Batmobile's wheels. Jason was taken by Batman to a school run by Ma Gunn, hoping to reform the young man. However, Jason soon realized Gunn conducted illegal activities with the youngsters at her "school" and he escaped. When Batman located him, Jason informed him about Gunn's crimes and even assisted Batman in capturing her gang, after which Jason was taken in by Batman as the new Robin at the age of twelve. He was quite the controversial Robin as writers wanted to make this Jason Todd different from his predecessor Dick Grayson, unlike his Earth-One counterpart, who seems to have a virtual identical origin story as Dick Grayson. Jason Todd was eventually killed off, by a public vote, but later was resurrected and returned as the second Red Hood and become a thorn in the side of the Batman Family. His story ended as the DC Universe was rebooted, but was continued as he and Bruce Wayne as Batman and Damian Wayne as Robin was rescued by Telos and reconciled their difference in Convergence: Batman and Robin. 45/80: Matt McGinnis as Robin (Prime Earth/Futures End)

Matt McGinnis is the younger brother of Terry McGinnis aka Batman Beyond, he often helps Terry out in any way he can whether it be from behind the computer back at the bat cave, or getting out in the field to do his part. Matt would sneak around the Batcave watching old training videos of Bruce Wayne and Damian Wayne being the Dynamic Duo. On a particular mission, his brother is in trouble and Bruce Wayne is out of commission, so he grabbed a hammer and smashed the display case for the Robin suit and took off to save his brother. Later Matt is given his own high tech Robin suit stated by Bruce to have offensive and defensive capabilities equal to Terry's suit. Sources:

41/80: Jarro (Prime Earth)

Jarro is a fragmented piece of Starro, the Conqueror, when it sacrificed itself to save his teammates – Team Mystery, against the Omega Titans, who were released when the Source Wall was broken. Secretly, Bruce Wayne as Batman saved a fragment of it and put it in a jar – thus giving the name of Jarro. Jarro and the Dark Knight have a unique relationship akin to a father-son. Jarro daydreams quite often of him being not just another Robin – but the best Robin and the one that Batman loves the most. Sources:

74/80: Carrie Kelly as Robin (Elseworld: Ame-Comi Girls)

Carrie Kelly is Barbara Gordon's cousin and James Gordon's niece. She's also known as Robin to Barbara Gordon's Batgirl. Sources:

75/80: Jubilation Lee as Sparrow (Amalgam Universe)

Jubilation Lee's parents were killed by mutant-hunting Sentinels, forcing the young mutant into hiding in New Gotham's largest shopping mall. While there, she tripped across a trap set for Dark Claw (Wolverine/Batman). Although the Clawed Crusader had escaped, he was in rough shape and Jubilation's mutant light show helped him to get away to safety. Impressed by her attitude and abilities, Dark Claw took the young girl under his wing and she then became his sidekick, known as Sparrow (Jubilee/Robin). Sources:

27/80: Bruce Wayne, Jr. as Robin (New Earth/Dream Sequence)

When the Key captured the Justice League of America (Green Lantern Kyle Rayner, Aquaman, Flash, Wonder Woman, Superman, and Batman), he administered a neural virus to each of them that causes them to live alternate lives in their minds. Batman dreams that he married Selina Kyle (Catwoman) and that their sons Tim Drake and Bruce Wayne, Jr. have taken the mantles of Batman and Robin respectively. Sources:
