The outsiders: why is your best friend your best friend?

because we bonded over ryan reynolds/deadpool, bastille, and my basfic version of damaged goods -- and we talked p much every day since!

that's what? 6 years? and she's been there for me during good times and the (very very) bad times and i would gladly fistfight god themself should they upset a ren.

now we have whole collaborative wip/oc projects that we co-write together, we chat bollocks about stuff (mostly our ocs, chikins (bastille's dan smith) and, of course, depechay mode).

i'm very proud of her for getting through uni and grad school and i will forever support her >:'|

she's the martin to my fletch, the dave to my alan, the dan to my ian (childcare/bobby saffron), my emotional support adhd wolfer, and she's just one of my greatest, closest friend.

back to the future: which decade in the last century would you most have liked to live in? Definitely the 80s! My big bro was a teen in the 80s so I ended up inheriting his tastes in music and movies! Although I could do without Thatcher...

the lost boys: would you rather be immortal or objectively beautiful to everyone? Oh this is such a good one! Errm... probably objectively beautiful because I bet immortality would get dull and lonely unless I had all my friends and loved ones there too! 

pretty in pink: what’s your signature ‘look’? It USED to be skater dresses and pink Converse but most recently it’s Mum jeans and a cropped jumper with some big hair! (I told you I had 80s taste!) Make up wise- I almost always wear blusher and white eyeliner. Thank you so much for asking!! 💛💛🥰💛💛

eye of the tiger: favourite 80s movie?

AGH this is such a hard questionnnnn— Okay, I think my favorite 80s movie now is 9 to 5 or Tootsie. But when I was little, it was definitely The NeverEnding Story. My mom used to take my sister and I to Blockbuster every Friday and we were allowed to pick out one movie for the week, plus one piece of candy. I always chose The NeverEnding Story. ALWAYS. How my family never saw my hyper-obsessions coming I have no idea alsdfjalsdfj (also in case you were wondering I usually picked either a ring pop or a baby bottle pop hehe)

africa: favourite 80s music video?

Maybe it’s cliché, but I love the Thriller music video!! I watched it when I was SUPER young and it scared the crap out of me. But I remember sitting down at the desk in my sister’s room and watching it with her and my dad standing behind me, and my mind was blown. It was the first time I had seen a music video that looked like a movie, and I’ll be honest, it set the bar pretty high. I still get bored during music videos if they’re not super cinematic. (Plus don’t even get me started on what this music video did for the music AND film industry HELLO)

Africa: favourite 80s music video?The first one to come to mind was Madonna’s “Open Your Heart” video, which I remember watching and being so into as a kid. And I look back and think maybe I have always been a lot gayer than I ever realized, since this was a song and video I loved at 6 or 7 years old. (Did I want to be Madonna? The kid? I don’t remember!! I just know I felt reaaaal connected to this whole thing).

Don’t Stop Believin: What’s the longest journey you’ve been on? I drove from NY to Portland with my first girlfriend to take her friend’s car cross-country. We went through DC, Tennessee, Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and then up California. The car got effed up after an oil change outside of New Mexico (the place didn’t replace the dipstick after re-checking the oil) and we didn’t find out til we were driving up a mountain in southern Oregon in the middle of a snowstorm. We ended up needing to get the car towed to Portland and staying with a friend’s brother in Medford for a night. The trip was probably 2 weeks and that girlfriend and I made a point to have sex in every state like some kind of lesbian sex bingo game. It was fun as hell. 

Footloose: Favorite musical? Ummm. Honestly I am always so down for Les Mis and I love all the songs and I know it’s old but I find something new to weep over every fuckin time. 

Eye of the Tiger: Favorite 80s movie? Damn. That’s REALLY HARD. I can’t pick an actual favorite, because I like a lot of them equally, but I have always had a big soft spot for Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.

i'm something of a pessimistic optimist, i think ksjdgjk - i know it's all gonna go wrong but i'll also shrug it off and go 'ah well, wind'll blow something better in'.

ferris bueller’s day off: what’s your guilty pleasure?

hmmm, see that's tough cuz i don't really feel guilty about anything i like but, uhhh, if collecting/having yankee candles count as one then probably that (i like the "midnight" smells, there's at least 4 different ones idk)???

the karate kid: when did you last have to work really hard to achieve something you’re proud of?

i finished a first draft of the nosokinetic/nosokinesis book (see oc blog) this passed year and i spent months and months on it and it really helped me get through some grieving processes... i also finished a pilot screenplay for me and ren's witchoverse ocs/wip project which was very fun to do!! so i'd say those, i think.

because i got shoved back into the closet by the throat and also, more recently, because i didn't really know anything But masking (it's taken me 3yrs to come to terms with being autistic and figuring myself out and letting myself be... myself innit).

e.t.: what’s one ‘weird’ feature that you love about yourself?

my ability to recall random bits of information to either the exact quote or near-enough (see: my thing about alan's barber's chair and also depeche tism/nd stuff) and my echolalia (it's fun doing alan's 'ello pasadeenuh' to myself a lot jdsk)
