Inspiration is Sometimes Found in a Coffee Cup... (and that is more than okay)
Hey guys,
I think I’m going to try to make this post short- I just need something to kick my ass into writing mode before I try to finish my personal goal for today: finishing the Something Wicked rewrite. I have just over four thousand words left before I’ll have everything up to date. I also realized, which is the point of this post, that I never did tell you why I chose to…
I foolishly decided to do both @sunnydwrites‘s 365 Page Challenge and the 85k90 challenge this year (alongside my last semester of college), but I think it’s working out alright.
I’m getting into a rhythm.
(That rhythm is panicking at 9 pm that I haven’t written yet and then doing it all in an hour. Rinse and repeat.)
I’m writing two totally different stories for these two challenges: a sci-fi with aliens and no discernible plot (yet!) and a sweet(?) holiday story about a family-run Christmas themed resort and a competition to inherit it.
I’m having lots of fun playing around with styles and finally using em dashes (correctly or incorrectly, who knows). This feels like it will be a good writing year. :)
Some of my favorite lines under the read more.
From the 365 Page sci-fi:
“She’d taken shuttles and even the occasional space cruise, but even the school trip to the International Space Docking Port in middle school couldn’t compare with the sheer amount of people that were living in this dome. It had taken her months to get here, jumping from shuttle to shuttle, long months spent in cramped quarters with sometimes less than savory roommates, but she had made it. ”
“The woman standing on the other side of the door was definitely human. She looked to be in her fifties with a head of dark curly hair and wide brown eyes. There was some oil smudging her left arm, and she was dressed in the same station coveralls that Echo had seen most of the staff on this level wearing. When she stuck out a hand for Echo to shake, she saw white constellations tattooed over the black skin of her arm.”
From the 85k90 Christmas story:
“The sight of Christmas Village filled Holly with as much warmth this December as every year previous.”
“Holly suspected that they burnt cinnamon in the large hearths in the lobby, but the workers would never confirm nor deny. They claimed it was part of the magic.”
Please note: I am not looking for critiques on any of this. I’m learning to like my writing again, and sharing parts of my work that I like help with this.
I know that I promised you I’d blog more, and I’m going to. In fact, I was thinking that I might start making Sunday nights my “blog night” from here on out, and let it be part of Self Care Sunday. I know I didn’t mention it but, before Christmas one of the people who worked with me left, and that’s kind of why my schedule is and has been so weird. I’m…

Hello 2019! (Please be everything I need you to be…)
Hello, everyone!
Happy New Year! I hope that all of you had or are having a great holiday season with your loved ones. Mine, as usual, was crazy, and wonderful, and I wouldn’t trade it for the world. So, seeing as it’s 2am where I am, I think I’m going to make this one short. (But don’t quote me on that, I sometimes get carried away with these things.)

01/14/18 day 2/100 Finished up chapter 9 today (actually tonight since I’m nocturnal this week but I digress). Spent about 3 or 4 hours reading/boring 9.8-9.10 and doing the final chapter questions. I chose this page to photographic because I liked how my handwriting looked My study technique has changed a bit over the past few days (er, nights). Instead of taking notes while reading it the first time, I read over the section and the questions before going over it a second time to take notes. This way I can better plan how to organize my notes and I’ll know what to focus on to be better effective. I thought this would add a lot more time but it ends up being about the same since I’m not trying to understand the material at the same time as I’m taking notes. As for 90k 90 day, I wrote 1001 words for an on track total of 14057. I’m looking forward to my trio getting on the road, but I’m sure they won’t like it when they reach their destination. Cleaning wise I took care of the kitchen today. I’m doing a 5 day rotation of the rooms in the house. For the kitchen I cleaned the counters, table, sink, fridge, walls/cabinet doors, swept, and organized the fridge and pantry. Things are going well and 2018 has been a very productive year so far. Even though I’ve been feeling sick with some stomach bug I’m still able to get quite a bit done, so I’m proud of myself for that.
OKAY BUT ONCE AGAIN PROVING SLEEP DEPRIVATION IS THE BEST WRITING INSPIRATION, I wrote 2,500 words last night of my novel which I found really exciting :
