please help me become an athletic queer im so out of shape its terrible but idk how to not
I think it’s a matter of finding something you feel is fun and doesn’t feel like exercise. Like, if you told me to run or lift weights, I’m not going to do it. I literally have dumbbells wasting away in my mom’s garage from my trials and failures of doing anything remotely gym-like. Martial arts is literal training, but doesn’t feel like it. Bonus if you have a fun (read: evil) instructor who knowingly incorporates cardio and strength training through the forms/kata.
Like, do this kata. Now do it again 2x fast. 3x faster. Work on your breathing. Deeper stances. You’ll be winded in no time.
Biking kind of tricks you into doing exercise as well, but idk if you live in an area where it may be possible to bike to work.
Swimming is another sport that I was heavily involved in when I was younger, and still love, but can’t do without someone yelling at me lmao. Swimming laps for hours without direction is boring (to me).
So tl;dr find a sport or exercise that tricks your mind into thinking it’s fun while you’re working out. That worked for me!
